hello my fellow gamers (-_-)7

ive been struggling through the trenches of Mid dvision as a Demoman for some seasons now and im starting to believe my inability to climb the ranks is due to my poor eating habbits. if i ate better, i think i would be a lot better at demo and just be an all around alpha male like Banny.

only issue: not really have any recipies

any suggestions post in da thread

like said above, fruit in general is a really easy snack and you can use it in a ton of different ways (personal favorite is mixed with greek yogurt and granola).

Most of the time though, bad eating habits are created due to a lack of preparation. Most people who get into cooking meals daily or meal prepping for a whole week tend to have way healthier eating habits in general. You can google easy meal prep recipes but from personal experience i love just doing simple things like Roasted Chicken and Veg with Lemon Butter, Quinoa chili (Quinoa is so awesome to prepare ahead of time and very versatile), or Rice Stirfrys, Stuff like that.

Im a chef as well so if you have any questions, or just wanna add me to talk about food you like and I can share some simple recipes with you or help you with your meal plan, id be more than happy to help you out.

Recommendations.

Skinless chicken breasts. You can flavor these in many different ways and it's almost always delicious and healthy. I usually go for a spicy Jerk flavor.

Steamed Veggies. I like the 'swanson steamfresh' brand ones because they're like $2.50 a bag and make a very lazy but healthy side. I like to add a bit of fresh garlic and red chili flakes to them to kick up the flavor a bit.

Fish fillet's. Much like the chicken breasts, easy to pan sear and you can flavor them in multiple ways.

Whole grain rice. Get a rice cooker, eat rice. As a bonus you can steam fresh veggies in the rice cooker very easily.

Drink a lot more water, might want to consider multivitamins as well.

Avoid: processed foods, sugar (aside from occasional fruit (not fruit juice you need that fibre), excessive bread or carbs.

Biggest thing though is to always be thinking about whats in the food that you're eating, understand whats in it and how it will effect your body. You will feel much better.

i eat oatmeal with milk every day for breakfast. it requires absolutely no work, it's extremely good for you, you'll never have to think about fiber again, and you can add honey/blueberries/peanut butter/cinnamon if you think it tastes like shit.

also you literally never feel tired/weak even if you skip lunch. that stuff is amazing

my default "i need to eat fairly soon but i also dont want to feel like a sack of shit immediately after but also i dont have a lot of money so it has to be only a few bucks of food" is the following:

- make some white or brown rice while doing the rest of this (google it if u dont know how)

- lightly fry some fresh green beans and strips of red bell pepper in a pan with some olive oil and a pinch of salt. remove and put on plate to the side when hot but still fairly hard
- in the same pan, fry however much chicken loin (cut halfway in half to make thinner) you want, probably on like medium high for a few minutes on each side. put a little salt and pepper on the chicken while it cooks
- take out chicken and put with veggies on plate
- make sauce in same pan taken off the heat, with roughly 2 parts hoisin sauce to one part sweet chili sauce w/ a small amount of soy sauce. add some brown sugar if you want it sweeter. add in pepper flakes if you want it spicier. warm until it gets a little bit gooey
- shred chicken then throw all the stuff from the plate back in the pan, and put pan back on heat. stir until everything is super hot again
- plate with rice on bottom, chicken veggie sauce stuff on top

takes like 20 minutes total (length of time to cook the rice) after you do it a couple times and is super good tasting, with the ability to change from something really sweet to pretty spicy, depending on how you're feeling

also, don't buy junk food to put in your house ever again. buy carrot chips or something instead to snack on if you're hungry. you'll find that you're hungry a lot less often

One of my favourites is to prepare a variety of healthy foods and roll them up in a tortilla. I usually prepare some extra firm tofu, avocado, cilantro, hemp seeds, celery, and wrap them in a corn tortilla.

Try cutting down on or eliminating meat and dairy from your diet, there's sufficient evidence that proves meat and dairy are not necessities in the optimal diet and are actually the cause of many health issues. meat has a strong correlation with heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure while dairy has been linked to osteoporosis (ironic isn't it?) and many cancers.

I went vegan 6 months ago and have been pleasantly surprised at the myriad of health benefits I have experienced; much more energy throughout the day, a lot happier and motivated, anxiety has been eliminated, cuts and burns heal much quicker, much clearer/healthier skin (although i've always been pretty lucky when it comes to acne), I can concentrate much better and for longer periods of time, and the list goes on...

I eat a lot of hemp seeds, nuts, lentils, and hummus to reach my daily protein goals. I eat a lot of veggies and a daily multivitamin to reach my daily calcium needs.

I expect this post will likely be bombarded by -frags since meat and dairy is the status quo but I recommend you do your own research, American meat and dairy industries have money in so many studies, researchers, health institutions, policies etc and they use the same tactics as the tobacco industry did decades ago to confuse the public about the real truth.

learn how to make a good omelette. Theyre easy as fuck to make, eggs arent very calorie heavy and adding spinach and mushrooms makes them fucking good.

now that we've got that out our system we can just keep moving forward. this morning imma have an omlette like Billdozer is saying, apple in between, skate sesh then we gots some vegan restaurant i found. No meat you might be saying? for tommorrow, slowly incoperating everyones thoughts in the thread, combining them and fusing all of your diets into 1 melting pot of health, leading up to be the greatest demo of all time. gl everyone who is also striving for the cause.

Going to start eating healthier also.

Unfortunately I don't like many types of veg and I can't cook...

So far I've been having quorn ready meals just because they're less salty and fatty than regular ready meals, but hopefully I get into the habit of preparing my own food.

The biggest problem with eating healthy is that people tend to buy too much produce at once, and then you end up wasting a bunch of it. So, you either make more frequent trips to your grocer, or you cheat, and turn it into a soup once it starts to go bad. Fruit obviously not so much, but vegetables generally go ezpz into a soup, and if you end up needing to make a bunch, it freezes fairly well (with some exceptions). If you use store-bought stock make sure it's the low sodium version though, if nothing else than to have more control over how much salt goes into said soup. This is how I've functioned pretty much since college, in that I'll have a soup for lunch with some bread basically every day, and said soups are frozen in meal sized containers which is nice for portion control and taking to work.

For fruit, once it starts to go, you can cut the yucky bits off, and then place it in a ziplock bag with a little sugar added and freeze it for a pretty nice dessert type item. If you're a real beast you can make fruit pies or fruit-added confections of various sorts (baking is a good skill).

I go to a butcher and get 2-3 meal sized meats per week and make sure one of them has some bones so I can generate my own stock. As far as types, it just depends on what he's got that particular day.

Living in a rural area I also have my acre + 1/2 garden so freezing and canning are pretty essential to waste as little as possible - but I realize that's out of reach for lots of people (though basil grows well indoors and can be added to just about anything).

Also, tomato is delicious but make sure you're not eating tons of it because it will eventually erode the lining of your stomach and give you sad times. I ran into that here because I tend to put down 8 tomato plants per season and I ended up having tomato for just about every meal and was not the better for it lol.

Also, beans, lentils, and other dry beans are handy because they cost like 1$ a pound and they keep forever.
