within a month of 1st getting the game i was playing f2p mvm. i met a guy called Sparky and we agreed to play more MvM together. a few months later he got me into tf2c when i had like 350 hrs or so. tf2c sucks as an introduction because its such a toxic environment and its hard to not be sucked in

Some guy in a pub thought I was good and wanted me to try out (on skial dustbowl) so he added me to his UGC roster but we never actually played a match. What actually got me INTO comp was watching i49. I remember watching HRG v. iM on Granary and thinking "Maybe I should do this" and then I saw iM v. Mix^ on Snakewater and thought "Ok I'm doing this"

then i sucked ever since

it was fun though

guy on a skial mountainlab server some 4 years ago was making a team with a couple others in the server and they invited me because i was good at spamming stickies on point. i would mge our pocket so he could practice and eventually realized i liked soldier a lot more than demo.

I was Admin on a pretty well known community server back in 2012-2014. The server eventually died and I realised TF2 had a competetive side. So I wanted to try it. :)

Met the guy called joerski in a turbine pub, he would always get mad at pub shit and said "shit this is so fucking aids I should start playing comp", he then once pretty much without me never agreeing dragged me on the first team s20 that consisted of players from this Turbine pub, joerski, hems, caitric, baksuz, me and Jaffa(who often skipped scrims smh). I was always very anxious and thinkin about comp was quite scary so it was pretty much joerski who got me in.
What kept me in was my 200% focus and willing to improve my aim and get better which I managed quite well until I got bored.

I was in a granary pub and i kept market gardening this one medic so he asked me if i wanted to make a 6's team with him and this other scout in the pub. our team was ass and we got crushed in ugc iron, but i had a really good time and made hecka good memories with my first team.

I spent 4 years playing casually, getting excited when my team would actually spread out over every class in pubs, before finally wondering if there was a game mode that mandated every class be played. Then I spent another few months playing HL lobbies before looking into what the heck those 6v6 lobbies were. Then there were another few months I spent thinking 6v6 was dumb as hell since everyone I met while trying to play it were toxic idiots. Once I finally decided to join a team I wound up finding a really chill 6s squad, and that was that.

I was watching a few TF2 youtube channels back then, probably starting with extv and the top 10 tf2 plays. I was somewhat interested in the comp scene but never really knew where to go and when stuff was happening. I came across Beater's promo video for the ETF2L Season 19 Finals, watched the stream and really fell in love with comp ever since. I even started actually playing in the archimedes cup and the ongoing seasons a few months later. Thanks, Beater! :)

Used to play TF2 Dodgeball a few years ago and met Zesty and Moursi and so started playing on some orange server with Moursi when a guy he knew asked if I played comp. Didn't know what he meant by it so looked up comp tf2 and found ETF2L and here we are.

I went on hildreths old arena server in like 2010

an angry serbian shouted at me until i agreed to backup for their team, I was a spy main at the time and enjoyed single digit frags on scout for every game I played

i remember searching "pro tf2" on youtube and finding some videos of previous ESEA seasons. This was around the runup to i52 so I heard about that and watched it, and once i saw the level of skill displayed at LAN I knew this was the game i wanted to play.

Same. Used to watch Highlander casts in study hall on my ipod touch.

Started playing on my mom's MacBook Pro with a mouse I stole from my homeroom cause it was held in a computer lab

Played pubs on hightower and would idle the game open at night to inflate my hours

Started playing tf2 mix summer of 2013 with like 500 hours in the game or something

Always had comp tf2 in the back of my mind even before buying the game in 2008, but was too much of a pussy to try it out, my brother was in a portuguese CSS team and they transitioned to TF2 in 2013, they needed a 6th player so they picked me up, and then kicked me after a month for being bad lmao, I then went back to pubs. It took me 2 years before I finally decided to try again, ETF2L's Season 19 was right around the corner and a portuguese player saw me playing medic in a pub and he wanted me to play for his portuguese team, we went to div6 and won with a flawless season without loosing a single control point :)

xen enigma, yaug and solid snake were semi regulars on the pub server I frequented, and that made me aware of the scene because they were beasts. Formed a team of pubbers, for cevo and twl I think, then moved on to esea for s3.
