do you use the combat text batching command where all damage is summed up to one number or seperate every time you hit something? i think it was tf_combat_text_batching 1.

Tell me what you use and why! so I can change up some thing if i want to!

It all comes down to personal preference, but I would highly recommend it. You don't have to count the dmg and can focus on something else. 0.7 is generally recommended for hitscan (scattergun, shotgun, etc.) I personally use 0.5.

I'd say it's super helpful for any weapon with fast fire rate, such as pistols, SMGs, flamethrowers and miniguns. I've had it at 2 since that command exists

I personnally use

hud_combattext_batching 1
hud_combattext_batching_window 0.5

but it really comes down to personnal preference tbh. I have it so that damage from weapons like RL or scattergun don't have their damage added up automaticaly but it does it for minigun, pyro's flamethrower and every weapon that has a fast firing speed.

Also the command in your post doesnt exist ;)

I personally keep it off, not due to convenience or because doing math is easier in my head or something like that, I just like being able to see how much damage each of my shots do on their own. It's more satisfying to me to see two 60s than it is to see a 120 over two shots.

depends on whether or not you wanna say demos so lit because you cant do the math quickly or if you wanna say how much health he actually lost

It's significantly better to have it on for a few reasons. Mainly as stated above because you can just look at the damage number once and see exactly how much damage you've done.

It also allows you to know whether you hit just 1 or 2 different players with 2 shots because you'll get 2 separate damage numbers instead of just 1.

It's more fringe, but if you're demo you often won't see how much damage you're doing on mid with your first sticky. On mids where you're focusing the same player with the first 2 stickies, the batching will cause the damage to update on the second sticky you hit more often than not, telling you how much damage you've done total.

Basically, it has fairly big advantages for all classes except maybe medic.

bloody difficult to see how much damage youve done with flamethrower, pistol, sentry or minigun without batching

i keep a very low batching window so the only thing i really batches is flamethrower and minigun. other than that i find that the individual numbers are better for estimating health when someone is getting heals since you can know exactly when they took what damage.
