Hey just started playing again after an 8 month break and I noticed there's no smoke trails on rockets and its rly throwin me off. would like to get it back if possible, not sure if its something in my config i need to change that maybe someone would know.

your drivers no longer support dx 8, either roll back drivers or switch to dx 9

Why even use DX 8? It doesn't even give more FPS anymore. Just use mat_phong 0 if you don't like the gloss.

for other laptop gamers/potato computer users like myself dx81 will still help quite a bit if your gpu is the one holding you back
The GPU wasn't a limiting factor when i had a HD 4870 (around GT 730 tier for you younglings) and a 4690k@ 4.8ghz. I doubt it would be the limiting factor to anyone with a modern GPU (the only ones affected by this are HD7XXX and newer). Laptop gamers such as yourself are most likely using Nvidia or Intel graphics so this bug wouldnt affect you anyways. OP clearly has a dedicated GPU.
