I moved into a new house and I have shit wireless internet (can't even stream 480p, tf2 packets dropped constantly) so in my frustration I finally logged onto my router/modem's config page to see if I could change any QoS settings to favor tf2. I found this:

I don't really know anything about wifi configuration, but I don't understand how my first name is anywhere on this thing at all. In fact, I recently (yesterday) did a fresh wipe and install of windows on my computer. On this, and every other prior install, I don't use my name at all for credentials. I basically never type my name at all.

The only way I can see that it is here on this router config page is if my roommates entered it in. The thing that is so disconcerting is that I don't understand what for or what abilities they have to monitor/throttle my traffic. Keep in mind that one of them told me that he used to work in IT. Setsul please help!

another instance of my name. I'd like to mention that 'upthere' is the name of our primary network, and upthere2 might have been the name of the wireless extender network? Maybe they created a network with my name as my own private deal? However I can't find this network in my available network list.

Whoever set up your network, whether you, roommates or a technician named it that. It's just the name of the network, nothing to worry about. What you should be worrying about is that ur network has no security. This means anyone can access your network, leech on your download, monitor your traffic and mess with it if they want. I recommend that you turn on WPA.

Slight aside but WPA can be brute forced on a phone unless you have a super long random password and you should probably use wpa2 or another security option instead
