tf2 dl stops at 96.0 mb

recently tf2 got uninstalled from my computer for some reason and when i try to reinstall it it doesn't make any progress after 96.0 mb, would really appreciate if someone could help out.

Have you tried clearing your download cache? Go to steam settings then go to the downloads tab and click the "Clear Download Cache" button. I used to have this problem in the past and this is how I fixed it

have u tried copying your important tf files and deleting the entire folder then trying to redownload?

try exiting steam too

Try the following:

- Uninstall the game from steam.
- Exit steam from the system tray
- Delete the directory in c:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\
- Delete the directory in c:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\temp
- Delete the directory in c:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\downloading
- Remove the folder in the registry location "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\tf\Settings"
- Reboot
- install steam via steam://install/440
- verify that the game installed correctly via steam://validate/440

Try the following:

Fixed the problem thanks to Smitty, if anyone else is having this problem just dl the hl2.exe file from elsewhere and put it in your Team Fortress 2 folder, then exit and re-enter steam and hit install and it should work.
