Start Streams Earlier?

So, we had a 30 minute+ pregame tonight and had quite a lot more viewers than normal.

Granted, it was Ascent Vs. Froyo, so that match sells itself, but do ya'll think it's helpful to have an elongated pregame to allow more word of mouth to spread? Or was it simply an aberration and stick to going live 15 minutes before posted time?

Sound off tf2 community.

I think it's nice when there's cool stream graphics with stat comparisons and rosters and such, especially during playoffs or important matches so the casters have time to explain the significance. Starting earlier than like 10:40 or 10:30 might not be a good idea though considering how often invite games get delayed (servers, client issues, etc.)

I personally loved seeing all the chat interaction and voting tonight, but I know not every match will be like this. The main reason we started so early was because of the previous time that people were probably coming on for. Not sure whether having longer pregames would make people be bored and leave, or will this long pregame just help build viewers? I think the voting helps make the long wait time tolerable at least.

pregames are boring and i think 15 mins should be more than enough for people to get to the stream

Bring back pregame frag movies. Or generally show or do something entertaining other than the slowmotion loop that doesn't even show good frags.

I've heard that some stream vods get muted because of music in the frag videos :/

I like longer pregame when there's actual content (like the stats that bear mentioned) or when casters explain what the games mean and stuff about the rosters etc, not 20mins of music until the server goes live.

Cerdurhonestly i think it was just because it was ascent vs froyo and that nobody else was really streaming

yeah the more viewers was solely because when b4nny plays ascent/evl he doesn't stream, and yells at shade if shade streams. so there weren't any other options.

Especially since we're reaching end of season and stuff like that. from my limited tf2 invite knowledge, i feel like this season is alot more competitive than the last few seasons

Starting streams earlier makes it harder to avoid unnecessary streams. It's easier for the casters and production to get scammed by invite teams rescheduling and client issues. If you guys are willing to risk that, I always like when the production gets time to flush out some back story before the match starts

On one hand having the stream start 5 mins before the match means that when the stream starts, I know that the match is starting soon. If the stream starts 30 minutes before, I sometimes just close the stream and forget that the match is happening.

Although not everyone catches the stream notification immediately so it starting earlier can also be useful. If their was a way to have like two separate notifications on twitch, one for the stream start and match start, that would be pretty useful.
