Did the maths and apparently there are 17 more teams signing up this season than last.

Maybe I'm wrong about the exact number, but it's definately higher.

The fresh meat challenge was a huge success. I'd imagine that's probably why.

first time in a while when its all fine and theres nothing to be angry or questionable about with these tiers; 'low' sounds funny, i reckon its for the sake of continuity and whatnot but the connotation is still rather negative in my opinion;

for anyone who doesn't understand, open was essentially renamed to 'low' and the div that is now called open is a NEW div for people who haven't played above fresh meat playoffs. at least, that's how i think it works.

It's supposed to be called "fresh", isn't it? Back in the day when tier names were being discussed, it was decided not to go back to "high-mid-low" and call it "open".

At first we wanted to make Fresh tier with the mindset that it would have mostly new players only playing there, but while Fresh Meat Challenge itself has been a success so far to us it didn't gain us that many Fresh signups for Season 27, the signup number for Fresh was almost as low as there were teams interested into going for prem.

So then we wanted to make a compromise to still help out the people who did sign up for Fresh with the mind set that they would only play against newer players so they wouldn't need to play against teams that have been stuck in open for the past 4 seasons. That's how we ended up splitting Open in to two parts, Low for the more experienced teams and Open for the newest teams with least experience.

We might give Fresh tier another try around in next season, or possibly keep the tiers like this for now as a short-term solution so that we can prevent teams that drop down to Low with poor results in Mid and then roll a completely new team with 0 seasons of experience.

Are we going to have another fresh meat cup after s27? It seems like it went pretty well since we have quite a few more teams who signed up for s27.

It's very unlikely to happen right after Season 27 is done, but personally I would like to make another cup like that happen again hopefully later this year at least. First we would want to focus of course on getting the current ongoing cup finished before starting off the plans for a next one.
