it seems/feels like that time of year again, whenish should we expect to be hearing from multiplay whether TF2 @ i61 is happening? there are several things this effects with regards to planning.

Reminder that we were the biggest tournament there at i58 in terms of prize pool and the fact that we had to take like 1/2 of the seats from the hearthstone stag, would be surprised if they don't support it.

iirc there generally isnt an iseries confirmation until the prior one finishes, in this case i60 in april.

i58 was an exception to this. With there being a new admin since Nym and Fiyah stepped down I wouldnt expect a confirmation until post i60

the hearthstone was actually 30k which makes it funnier that tf2 stole their seats

Hearthstone had some large boys there too, it's just they had no spectators cause it's a boring game to sit there and focus on

There's 2/3 (albeit not international) lans in eu alone before i61, and details for last year didn't get sorted out for a while. I think first details of the venue normally appear slightly before the previous i-series, with the tf2 confirmation afterwards

There's a social aspect to lans too u nerd

alright tickets are on sale for i61

No news yet on whether or not there will be TF2, so I'll say this:

Last time the open tournament was done with servme using Battlefy and there was no monetary prize for the open tournament. This means it costs $0 to run, and we can even set up a Matcherino for it.

If there is no/limited Multiplay interest, I'll do it myself.

Just don't make us use serveme again, i can't speak for everyone but when I go to a lan I expect to play at 0 ping, if I wanted to play online with <15 ping I would go to corsa's house...

i mean yeah it's not ideal, it's a worst case scenario (i too would love to finally play on 0 ping), i'm just looking for a no-cost option because i can't afford to make any financial outlays beyond attending. even if we managed to get servers for free, an additional person has to pay for accommodation and BYOC to show up and not play games.

i don't know how dope corsa's house is but iseries is genuinely the best gaming/social experience imaginable, so it's kind of worth imo.

i58 only used serveme cause of server issues (which also delayed the invite tourney but ofc they got priority when they got a few servers running). i just hosted a server on my own pc in-game. slightly worse frames but i got sub-lan ping SeemsGood

I am guessing they haven't actually sorted any of the tournaments so we shouldn't need to worry.

Serveme had to be used last time because someone let tsc near the game servers, it should be all on lan servers and always has been historically.

There's also no real distinction between the open and invite tournament in terms of prize, they're the same event. Teams from the open bracket qualify to the knockout rounds, the invite group basically have a bye into the knockout rounds and compete for seeding initially. Obviously if for some reason there's no TF2 tournament then this distinction won't matter, but there was technically a prize for the open section last time, it's all the same competition.
