I wish high level players would realise that this is a team game and that they are wasting their potential by doing so much close-minded shit, whether its not communicating with their teams or being toxic or baiting its just like - you aren't helping yourself or your team or your opponents to improve and if you think your ego is above all of it then what is the point of putting thousands of hours into this game and hoping for it to become something big when you are doing barely anything constructive to help the cause like FUCK its actually unreal how much wasted talent there is in this game..

and what makes it worse is that people cant recognise talent in unproven players so only a fraction of the players with the potential to be great actually get the chance to, props to kaidus and banny for actually developing less experienced promising players, i wish more top players would do that..

Hey I'm perfectly open to thoughtful discourse on the matter so you can add me on steam if you feel the need to prove me wrong but if you're just posting for the sake of making it look like i don't know what I'm talking about, then I'm not gonna argue about this with you on the forums.

I was referring to players he's brought into his teams.. I don't consider him a very friendly pug player by any means..

what im saying is exactly that, you don't know what youre talking about

a long time ago i thought the same thing and have heard that sentiment echoed through many, many lower level players

assuming you understand what/why a player who exceeds you in skill is doing really only sets you up to be frusturated because

(a) if you actually know what hes doing all the time and it still works against you OR you dont adapt to play with it, why should the higher skilled player change what hes doing just so the lower skilled player can deal with it?

or

(b) youre pulling the classic reddit "i understand the game at an IM level but i play steel because of my mechanics lolz"

ive played on a lot of teams/pugs where ive been the support/fodder/meatshield for people who i felt baited too hard, but i always did my best to trust them and make the space they needed to get something done

i would much rather be the asshole in the back potshotting enemies waiting for my late buff to go shoot three people in the back but that doesnt exactly line up with my skillset

calling people who have proven to be capable of playing at a higher level than you close-minded can be accurate, but working yourself into a fuss over whichever asshole pugchamp scout is losing with a 3:1 kd is pointless

as far as the second thing you said, my original post is still accurate

invite is (was) a huge time commitment and the vast majority of players who do well against invite teams/players in pugs/scrims fail to do so in matches which is why you (used to) see the same recycled arguably mediocre invite players season after season because while not being allstars, theyve proven to be at least competent and nobody wants to waste time taking a chance on timmy twoshotter just because its not worth the risk

as far as "wasted talent" im not exactly up to date on who's the new hot shit but for the vast majority of players 5 mins of observing and a conversation makes it pretty clear as to who actually has the ability to perform and who doesnt, and i havent been impressed in a while (go bo4r)

im pretty sad about typing all this up but its far better than the code review im sitting through rn so whatever

Thing is, I'm not frustrated at not being able to deal with higher level players because I can and have dealt with them from playing them in scrims and matches, not just pugs. My frustration is with their own mindsets towards their own play (that being said I am not meaning it towards all high level players because that would be delusional).

I'm not a lower level player, I was a high level player that happened to not play prem, but i played high playoffs 3 seasons in a row and performed at a consistently high level in each instance. I'm guessing you're not familiar with the EU scene so it's perfectly understandable that you think I'm clueless because I didn't really make an effort to make a name for myself, but I guarantee you i do know what I'm talking about and I do have a high level understanding of the game and it's dynamics.

Keep a look out and you will see me pretty active within the community over the next months, not as a player, but as an analyst and coach, and it will quickly become evident that I'm well versed in TF2.

I echo the sadness in typing this out but I felt I had to retort.

ya before i posted that, i watched ur 'analysis' vid (at least the seagull one) and i checked ur etf2l, u almost made prem like 5 times but theres a pretty big gap between almost making prem and being able to contend with mid-high prem teams

i dont consider that being a high level player

you sound like a european mr slin and most of what you said about his play was either obvious ('nobody has seen him so hes going to go for the medic') or irrelevant ('mixup shitting on an inferior team thus leading to seagull being able to do whatever he wants, not the other way around')

you blow by a lot of little things hes keeping track of and a lot of factors that would go into his decisions

if that video was designed to cater to very very new players then thats fine but i dont get that vibe from how you were speaking

hf coaching, theres literally nothing left to analyze about tf2 lol just copy what banny does and hope u find 5 people who will do whatever you say or a clockwork to help you out
