Info

Taking place from November 18th-20th, the FACEIT 6v6 Opening Tournament will see up teams compete on FACEIT's platform.

Team are free to signup on FACEIT's website, with registration ending on Friday, November 18th at 10pm EST. Players that wish to signup but don't have a team can register as solo players and be matched by FACEIT with other solo players.

The tournament will be based in North America, but players from other regions can also join. Players will have to set their region in the FACEIT game settings to NA if they wish to signup.

The tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday, November 19th if 32 teams or less participate, but will begin Friday, November 18th with opening rounds if more teams sign up.

Additional details about the tournament such as an FAQ are available. Players that wish to contact the admins can do so via the FACEIT support system or the FACEIT TF2 Discord.

Format

The format will utilize a single-elimination bracket, with a best-of-three series being played for every match except for the best-of-five grand finals. Seeding for the bracket will be determined by the admins based on player experience in other leagues.

The rules for the maps will be based off of the European ruleset. Standard control point maps will have a 30-minute time limit and a mercy rule if a team gets a five-round difference, with an overtime round if the score is tied at the end of regulation. The tournament will also use the global whitelist.

The map list will be using a slightly modified version of the ESEA map list:

  • cp_badlands
  • cp_granary_pro_rc4
  • cp_snakewater_final1
  • cp_gullywash_final1
  • cp_process_final
  • cp_metalworks
  • cp_sunshine

Prizes

A total of $2,500 and 19,200 FACEIT points is up for grabs. The prize pool distribution is as follows:

  • 1st: $700 + 2400 FACEIT points
  • 2nd: $660 + 2000 FACEIT points
  • 3rd-4th: $570 + 2000 FACEIT points
  • 5th-8th: 1500 FACEIT points

I'm honestly quite shocked and very happy about how much effort faceit is putting into TF2.

After 9 years in development, it was worth the wait for this post.
Side-note, it's nice that tf2 is getting support from faceit.

Its great that the top 16 teams get some sort of prize. That alone will tempt more teams to sign up than if the top 4 teams were to get prizes. Props to FACEIT for bringing that to the table.

confused as to why sigafoo is casting this when there are plenty of available casters who have a ton of experience. I'm fine with more people getting into casting but for a tournament like this it seems a bit strange.

Otherwise super excited!

i mean, i'm all for getting new casters in. I love watching new casters and helping them out when they ask for advice. I just don't know if this is the best environment to be testing out new casters? Idk if you see it this way but i do think this is a pretty big deal as far as tf2 goes, and I think we should really be promoting it with the best we have. Not saying sigafoo is a bad caster, I have no idea how he'll cast 6es and honestly he could be amazing, I just disagree with this being the time to test the waters.

wasn't aware of him casting for evl whoops

MR_SLINand he's been casting TF2 for years. come on guys let's keep it chill.

wasn't trying to be, uh, unchill(?), was just voicing my thoughts. Also I genuinely wasn't aware of his casting experience with both highlander and 6es so that's my bad there.

Still v excited about the tournament, will be hype
