After almost a year of competing, Premiership team Team XENEX has called it quits, with the players confirming to teamfortress.tv that the team has disbanded to pursue other opportunities.

The Team XENEX roster has played since November of 2015, when the team (known as Publiclir at the time) formed only for DreamHack Winter 2015, with AMS and Smirre being a part of the team ever since then. After the event however, the team decided to stick together for the ETF2L Premiership. Over time, they saw many adjustments to their roster. Their last major change happened before i58, where the team brought in three new players and joined UK organization Team XENEX. Their final song would be their appearance at i58 in Birmingham, where they finished 5th-6th in the playoff bracket.

Team captain Thaigrr shared this thoughts about his time with the team and his teammates’ future plans:

So after LAN a few people were still keen to play such as Funs, Flushy and Smirre. AMS and myself were unsure if we wanted to as we both were getting a little bored of playing soldier. So that was the lead up to the team ending after LAN. Funs found a new home with my old team (ChampGG.K!) and I’m sure he will do well with them. Smirre is playing with Danger Dogs and will also do well with them. Schocky is taking a break from TF2 now as well as Flushy I believe. AMS made the transition to scout and is doing pretty well from what I have heard.

The team overall was a fun one to play with; [it] had its ups and downs like I'm sure a lot of other teams did. I don't think any of us were really happy with how i58 went which was the real nail in the coffin for the team. Maybe if we stepped up more for LAN and pulled in a 4th place we may have stuck together or replaced those who still didn't want to play but in the end there was no real attempt to keep the team alive.

Team XENEX’s last composition was:

  • Scout: Schocky
  • Scout: Funs
  • Roamer: Thaigrr
  • Pocket: AMS
  • Demoman: Smirre
  • Medic: Flushy

I hope the team Team XENEX org can possibly pick up the LEGO roster; LEGO have been improving a lot lately and it would be nice to see them get a sponsor

^ Hopefully XENEX will stick around as a sponsor, Flushy had good things to say about their support for the team and I know that XENEX was pretty pleased with the eXposure they got at i58.
