Florida Lan - reaching out to the community

Hey guys,
I wanted to give you all an update on Florida Lan.
Currently I had it scheduled for Mid August later this year at a nice convention center rather than a Lan Center with super restricted PC's (No custom files or configs). However, I'm having trouble getting all that together. I was really hoping to find a sponsor who would help foot the bill or at least provide me with anything (PC's to borrow for the weekend for folks who can't bring their own for example) that could help this event happen, but I have had zero luck. I cannot find anyone interested in sponsoring a TF2 event. So I tried to take up a notch and include CS:GO and Smash Bros, even then I've had 0 luck.
I cannot completely pay for the events as I've had this past year due to medial issues so finding help would really be the only way I can still make this event happen. So I'm left with two options:
A) Find the sponsor with the help of you guys, the competitive community.
or
B) Crowd funding via IndieGoGo
I'm open to any other suggestions, I really want this event to happen. And yes, I will try my best to make sure that there are medals again this year.
Thanks for hearing me out, you guys rock.

Venue for a 2nd day: 1.5k (Optional)

I didn't have the info available to me at my office so I had to do a lot of digging in my text history to find it all. I updated the original post with all the financial information. Many thanks for your reply.

With the figures provided, is that including sets of PC's for people to use or is this assuming every person will BYOC?

What area are you looking at for the LAN and do you mind discussing what venue you are proposing? Also will the venue be providing all the set up needed, network cables, power strips, chairs, tables, etc etc?

agreed. I'd be willing to donate for a chance to go to a lan.

The 1.5k is for both the rental of the venue space and the insurance needed for said space should there by an accident on site.
No, that doesn't include PC's.
I was hoping to get a local company (Such as Origin PC) to help out with PC's by letting me borrow a few as they do in their own events. They had 0 interest in sponsoring a TF2 only event, this is the only reason why I felt the need to include CS:GO. If I can find a sponsor willing to let me borrow some rigs for a TF2 only event then great, I'll drop CS:GO in a heartbeat. Alternatively, if everyone is fine being 100% responsible for bringing their own systems then I can work with that too.

I want to include Smash either way as it's a really fun game and having a TV+Console setup doesn't take much space at all.

If anyone has any more questions please feel free to ask and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.
Geel, if you would like to discuss specifics I'll be more than happy to discuss them over PM or Steam so the thread doesn't get cluttered.

Also just a thought but adding something like Hearthstone is extremely easy to accommodate since it is on mobile and PC and tends to draw a ton of people interested in playing. Just a consideration to think about.

DoubleTree Hotel & Convention Center in Miami. The room will be about 93.00 ft x 66.00 ft
Venue won't provide any networking equipment. I work in IT and will be providing all that plus the game server(s).
The tables and chairs I can easily rent from a nearby location, they're not too expensive to grab for a day.

Hearthstone sounds like a neat idea, I know next to nothing about it. But if folks want me to add it in I don't see a reason why not if it's as simple to setup as you've said.

Well if you don't want to do drive back, there's a hotel in ft lauderdale that's dirt cheap and right on the beach. Rooms usually go from $50-100, it's not a shit hole and it's safe/+ in a nice area so it might be worth splitting a room with someone.

Interestingly enough, my best friend is pretty big into hearthstone. So if that becomes a thing, I'd have something then to convince him to go to some place. Plus it'd be our first time attending a lan, which would be super cool despite it being a lengthy drive from Houston, where I live

I'll keep you updated on whether or not we decide to go that route.
