Is it worth it to upgrade from an fx-6300 to an 8350 because my games are just generally stuttery and my fps isn't where I want it to be. Should I just buy a new motherboard in total?

No.
Most games won't even use 4 cores, let alone 8.
You could try overclocking though. We're talking about 20% best case though, so if that's not enough of an improvement you will indeed need both a new mobo and a new CPU.

do you have a guide you would recommend for overclocking the 6300?

i just made this with a friend.
is this good? like will it run lets say overwatch on good fps?
aside from tf2/csgo i would like to play other games like fallout 4, gta, skyrim and good games like that.
i was wondering if this build is gonna be good.

While I see the concept I don't agree with the exact parts with the exception of the monitor.
But before I try to improve it:
Budget?

well a total would be nice under 1300.

You can get a better case if you want to. I don't know what kind of design you like so I went with my default for now.
Windows 10 if you are absolutely sure you want it, 8.1 is sort of the safe choice if you haven't made up your mind about forced updates and so on yet.

What are you going to use it for?
That pre built got a very bad GPU so games will run like garbage.

Hey, looking for GPU upgrade, NVIDIA GTX 960 and AMD R9 380 are in my budget, both for the same price (local dealer). Witch one should I take? Both performing about the same in game tests but NVIDIA offers some extra technologies. And is the 4 GB version worth of concidering?
Thank you for help

I would personally buy the GTX 960 because of all the fancy NVIDIA technologies you already mentioned, consider looking at these comparisons: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-3.html (scroll down to Best Graphics Card For ~$190) / http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-380-vs-GeForce-GTX-960#differences
The R9 380 overall has the best price-performance ratio and the 2gb of the 960 can cause framedrops (http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f14/amd-r9-radeon-380-nvidia-gtx-960-a-1078035.html#post23618532).
If you have a couple of bucks left, you could go for the 960 with 4gb or just pick up the R9 380 if you're fine without the fancy NVIDIA stuff.

I agree with you, it depends on what games you play though. (e.g. you'll never need 4gb for tf2 but for it doesnt hurt to have those extra 2gb in gta 5 or the Witcher 3)

Barely above 1GB on settings that'll drop you down to 30fps.
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Performance_Analysis/The_Witcher_3/3.html
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/the_witcher_3_graphics_performance_review,9.html

There is no need for 4GB VRAM on 1080p
Any settings that would actually warrant 4GB and a 380 won't cut it.

Hey, I'll be buying parts for a new PC within a couple days, and I have a £1050 budget.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Yx8PZL - This is what I'm planning on getting. Any advice would be hugely appreciated, and I'm also still unsure as to go for a DDR3 setup with an i5-4690K or use the DDR4 build in the link. At this current point in time, is it worth spending more for skylake or to purchase better parts with a haswell build? I'm not looking to stream, just play CS/TF2 @ 1080p with as high fps as possible. Also yeah playing AAA games on ultra with good fps would also be nice.

EDIT: Sorry, new to this :)

Well like most other people that post in this thread asking for advice, you haven't said a single thing about what you want to do with your pc and what performance you want from it. Like do you want to be able to stream tf2 at 720 60fps and still have good fps in game, or stream at 540 30fps and have ok performance still. AAA games with ultra graphics and at least 60fps? We need something to go on here.

What do you mean better parts with a Haswell build? Skylake is better. And there's still 25£ left to improve whatever you want to improve.

Do you really wifi? Do you really need to spend that much on wifi? Ethernet is always going to be better, you're never going to get close in terms of ping and bandwidth, no matter how much you spend on wifi. If you're close a cable won't be too much of a hassle, if there's multiple walls/ceilings between your pc and your router wifi will get even worse.

Other than that, some better or cheaper alternatives:

Hi im looking to upgrade my current PC.
My current specs:
AMD Athlon X4 750K CPU
MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 Motherboard
2GB Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X Graphics Card
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM
1TB Western Digital Caviar Black Hard Drive
500W Corsair CX500 Power Supply
Rosewill Line-M Case
I currently get about 100 fps in tf2 using high frames configs. I would like to be able to get 150+ without configs
I would also like to keep it under 250 usd if possible
This computer would only be used for playing tf2 and csgo

Have you tried overclocking already? It won't do too much though.

Otherwise either replace CPU+mobo+RAM, use the old parts for another build or sell them as a bundle.

In theory you could go even lower with the G3258 but the budget doesn't call for it and I don't think it'd handle CS:GO well.

Have you tried overclocking already? It won't do too much though.

Otherwise either replace CPU+mobo+RAM, use the old parts for another build or sell them as a bundle.

Or, if you're going for as cheap as possible, keep the RAM and go with Haswell.

how much more performance would i get with the first option?

Maybe 5% from the CPU. This is not so much about performance and more about the mobo (SATA Express, M.2, etc.), because if you decide to get new RAM (without RAM your old CPU+mobo would be useless, though you could still sell them) there's no reason to go with Haswell anymore.

That said I haven't tested RAM timings vs speed in TF2 yet. Best case the 2400MHz RAM might get you another 10%, so ~15% total.

Hello my friend is looking for a brand new build.

He wants to play a wide variety of titles from cs:go to fallout, metro, gta and skyrim. He has no preferences for the colors of the parts or anything, but he would like to try overclocking in the future, both the CPU and the GPU. He also will need to have a wireless card, although he will mainly be playing on a wired connection. It must include an OS in the price, as well as an optical drive.

Budget is ~700-1000 dollars because as of right now he is unsure if he should get a 144hz monitor. He is concerned that on many of the titles he will play cannot achieve a high enough frame rate to justify a 144hz monitor, so we are trying to figure out whether the performance of triple a games or how much cs he wants to play is more important. I Hope it isn't too much trouble for you to come up with builds for the two different prices. You do good things here.

Overclocking the CPU will cost at least 100$ and I don't think he needs it, so I wouldn't spend 15% of the budget on it.
Overclocking the GPU is free so he should start with that. Overclocking is always lots of work/experimenting/testing so only once he's done it on the GPU and is definitely willing to put in at least 3 times the effort (unless you're going for the quickest and dirtiest CPU overclock) I'd consider spending those 100$ when the time for a CPU+mobo upgrade comes around in a few years.

Wifi card or is a dongle fine?

"An OS"? Does that mean windows? I will push Linux gaming whenever I can.

I'm not sure if I understand the budget correctly. 1000$ including the monitor, so if he gets one that leaves 700$ for the build, if he doesn't get one then the full 1000$ for the build, right?
His concerns are justified, 120/144fps won't happen in AAA games. Unless he plays CS:GO competitively I don't see a point in sacrificing even more fps in all other games, which he'll play more often.

If you ditch CPU overclocking and the monitor you can build something pretty darn beastly.

Even with only cheap overclocking it doesn't look so hot anymore. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pFwnxr
And CPU overclocking on a 700$ budget just isn't happening. At least 400$ for CPU+mobo+RAM+cooler. Dropping down to Haswell or microcenter can help but it'll only do so much. DVD+dongle+windows 100$. Case+PSU and only 1 HDD, no SSD, another 100$. That's 600$, 100$ left for a GPU if you don't want an SSD. Even if you manage to push it down 100$ I still don't see 144fps happening, not on even remotely decent settings.

Hey, I need some help with my build. I'm trying to make a Black and White themed build for gaming + video rendering/design stuff, but I'd like to know if there are any better options for me available around the same price for the entire setup ($1500-$1600)
I would do some light overclocking and occasional streaming, too. It'd be mostly for TF2 and other similar Source games, but I also would like to be able to play games like Fallout 4 at 60FPS. I have a bootable Win10 installation drive, so I didn't add an OS on the parts list.
