So I am unsure how many of you guys keep up with the CS scene but the PGL qualifiers that are going on right now have amazing production quality. It is a bigger studio putting it on and such but one thing that they have that I would love to see if we could incorporate into TF2 is the live game smooths. Now I do not know that much about how source runs for STVs and stuff but they somehow managed to get premade smooths into live broadcasts and I was thinking that something like that could be really great for Tf2. We just need to figure out how it works, so anyone have any ideas or is that idea itself just a bad one?

tsc (I think it was tsc, sorry if not) already made a plug-in like this. It basically was able to smooth between players POV's and it looked really cool. iirc though it was decided that TF2 is way too fast paced for that kind of transition. Every time the smoothing was used it was really jarring because unlike in CS people move more than a foot a minute, and a lot of things add to smoothing in tf2 being nauseating

edit: just watched the time stamp you linked and the glaring problem is that TF2 doesn't have a 45 second buy timer. People sit in spawn (while 2 classes do static jumps) for ~10 seconds. There just isn't a lot of room to work with there

Yeah my thought would be like a smooth in a circle top down on mid for when the demos fist get there or something or time a rollout to follow med/ roamer or demo or something like that at the start of rounds, more as a showcase as to whats going on then a static add on like that have in the CS clip

The plugin Tino is talking about doesn't smooth between players, he wants something that smooths around the map

It's possible, but it's an odd request that I've never seen before.

Maybe this could replace following players during pregame/half? Somewhat like the old map pre-stream backgrounds from TFTV's early broadcasts.

I could see it working on rollouts, if it was times right to catch the bulk of a team. Might add a bit of hype to each mid too.
