How hard is it to get good, working servers? This isn't me trying to be a dick, I'm honestly curious. Most server companies have a rep for being "trash" and I'm wondering why even ESEA can't get servers to work properly.

the funniest part about this to me is that the Fighting Game Community made a HUGE deal when a tournament organizer charged $8.95 to individuals for higher stream quality + VOD access (and more recently $14.95 for an entire Pay Per View event). So I can't even imagine if they had to pay $84.95 to play in a tournament that doesnt ENTIRELY work.

tbf the amount of organization and shit that a fighting game tournament requires is less so than a multiplayer game utilizing servers and the like, to the point where its feasible to host local tournaments with basically no cost

FGC can't host shitty tournaments or people will just host their own

People didn't have a super huge problem paying the $8.95 for the HD stream. The issue was that the HD stream was fucking terrible garbage. This was also awhile ago, like years.

Was playing a match, and we still had the lag issues. Server crashed one minute before the match was going to end.

Apparently there was a CSGO update that was causing servers to crash (http://play.esea.net/index.php?s=forums&d=topic&id=619817), so they may have reset the box that our match was being played on.

I got a response to my ticket:

Hello,

We are currently investigating this issue and already have a open ticket on this matter. Thank you for using the ESEA support system.

Don't forget the random ping spikes up to 200 ms. (Only had this happen at the start of my match for a few minutes, though.) Server stuttered the entire time, although. Painful to play.

On illinois 45 tonight my ping was 80-100 the whole game even though I usually ping well to chicago servers, and we got stutters on both that server and a texas server

I really don't think those two are comparable. one is a streaming service and one is something you league/tourney you participate in, with prizes and other "benefits." my EVO ticket was like ~$50 + $10 per game u sign up for and that is only a 1 weekend event lol.

on topic: Just played a csgo pug and everyone had 150+ ping.

it's still lagging, no? I've been watching streams of ESEA pugs and it doesn't look good.

MR_SLINit's still lagging, no? I've been watching streams of ESEA pugs and it doesn't look good.

Servers consistently lag out every 5-15 minutes, and a number of people have serious ping spike issues. Other than that I've noticed that a number of servers we've been using that drastically improved, routing-wise, since the last spree of pugs we did.
If it wasnt for the lag spikes, ability to pick a fulltime sniper for no reason, and the max players of 12 before you can even do picking in a class-based shooter (it makes sense in cs where roles are more malleable) this would be possibly one of my favorite pug formats - little things like displaying div during picking is actually really attractive, particularly for someone like me who likes to med but doesn't tend to know a lot of names and respective skill levels.
