Introduction & Prizes

Hello everyone, this is the very first CyberLeague.eu Invitational Cup sponsored by Tt eSPORTS. There will be prizes for the winners and the winners only, nothing but bruised egos for the runners up. Six Tt eSPORTS Black gaming mice as well bragging rights and the ever precious momentum going into the biggest weekend on the TF2 calendar. This cup is happening on Sunday 17th August. Seven of the best teams in Europe and the best team from Australia come together for a one day special double elimination cup in case you were not excited enough for i52 already. Read on for all the details, it should be quite the day. Massive thanks to Tragicservers for providing four servers that will be used by the teams to play their desired matches in this tournament.

Rule Set and Maps

It will be your standard ETF2L rules for time limit, win difference, golden cap etc. As well as for the unlocks. Each stage of the tournament will be 1 map from the designated pool below decided by map elimination. The team from the Higher bracket will have advantage of choosing whether they want to eliminate first or second. If there is no higher bracket team the the highest seed will decide if they want to eliminate first or second. The grand final will be best of 3 maps, the team from the winners bracket picks the first map then it is loser pick from that point onwards.

The map pool will be as follows:

  • cp_badlands
  • cp_granary
  • cpprocessfinal
  • kothproviaduct_rc4
  • cpgullywashfinal1
  • cpsnakewaterfinal1

Teams

Here are the top 8 invited teams in seeded order:

Update

Epsilon are dropping out of the cup due to only having 3 players. Kiler being already away, War being stuck at work until the Grand Final and tek- taking a spontaneous holiday. Where there is loss for one , there is gain for another. We had two teams on standby in case something like this happened, LEGO and 4-25. The decision has been made to invite 4-25 as they can supply a fuller roster opposed to LEGO who require 2 mercs. The seedings will be moved around to reflect 4-25's finishing position in ETF2L. Apologies to LEGO for not selecting them, hopefully I will organise more of these in the future and there will be more opportunities for them.

Epsilon Mike will be playing scout for Reason for the tournament and we also have a couple of other TF2 based surprises confirmed for the day. Tune in from 13:30cest to hear all about them.

yangpie will play scout for Lazy Pandas. baud will scout for 4-25.

Awsomniac

*Mirelin* *kaidus* *Zebbosai* *Knutsson* *Stark* *zappis*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

Awsomniac were the runners up in ETF2L and with that naturally take second seed. With arguably the best Medic, Demo and Scout on show last season they have the best set of ingredients to upset Epsilon. They key to their success will be getting more out of their combo, Mirelin and Zebbosai, both struggled to make an impact during the Grand Final but if they can find a way to use their obvious talent more effectively it will give the rest of the team more opportunities and could really open the door for Stark to make a big impact. Zappis is starting to fit into the team well and proving to be a solid replacement for the departed fl1p. They have had a few rethinks about how they do things and it will be interesting to see what they bring to the table during this Invitational.

Immunity

*Bonobo* *term0* *yuki* *aporia* *Sheep* *Snowblind*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

One of the most delightful surprises of i49 were team Immunity and it is a pleasure to have them back again this time around. Two changes from last year in the form of term0 on demo and Snowblind on scout. While not overly familiar with either player, word of the street is that they are both upgrades. It will be exciting to get to see them play before i52 itself. Having to deal with the changes of conditions, play out of a gaming cafe, the time difference, as well as playing against tougher opponents than in their regular season in Oz will be tough but they did the same last year and despite weak pcw results before i49 proved a force to be reckoned with at the tournament itself. Will the one day nature of the cup bring out the same kind of form? Will term0 fulfil the hype around him when faced with Euro's best? Tune in to find out as we squeeze every second of TF2 out of them as we can.

Reason Gaming

*Bulle* *huhy* *Drackk* *Rising* *Mike* *Herr_P*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

Reason are a team made for i52, stars across the lineup. Smzi perhaps the most well known of their players will not be available for the tournament, his cover is currently unknown. All of these players have prem experience and seeing them together will be interesting, Rising and HerrP have the ability to play with the best of the best on their day. Huhy has shown he can pump out dpm with the best of them within the defensive demo role, with Bulle backing him up with the heals it is a solid combo to build from and allow Herrp and Rising make plays happen on the flank. The biggest questions marks with this team is who will be the main caller and how will Drack fair with the step up in skill. Drack has always stood out in Div2/1 as a promising player but whether he can cut it at the highest level remains to bee seen. Mike will be stepping out for the missing smzi.

Fenneks

*skeej* *Ryb* *Salmon* *Killari* *gf18* *wltrs*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

Fenneks will be attending i52 with a slightly different roster than the one competing in this cup. As I understand it this shall be Fenneks last online performance and I can imagine skeej and the boys want to go out with a bang. With most likely the full roster from ETF2L Season 18 they have plenty of practice together and caused an upset of seedings in the ETF2L play-off stages, they will be hoping for more upsets throughout the day here. As always watch for Ryb, Salmon and Killari to set up the plays wltrs and cco to do the cleaning up. I'm hoping for exciting games and aggro play from the Fenneks team's final e-foray. gf18 will miss Fenneks' last outing, scout merc to be confirmed.

Edit: gf18 and Killari will be playing!

GGWP.PRO

*duff* *Forsak3n* *Shadowburn* *Whiteglow* *atomic* *msh*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

A new look lineup for GGWP.PRO, msh returns to scout, Forsak3n moves to demo, Whiteglow moves to roamer, duff comes in on medic and that leaves the almighty Shadowburn on pocket. This line-up will be closer to what we can expect to see from GGWP in the next ETF2L season. msh returning will surely fuel another string of jokes but the rest of his team seems confident in his ability and his keenness to improve (More so than yangpie) and alongside atomic will form a solid scout partnership. With them on the flank is Whiteglow who is a smart guy who understands how TF2 works and should be able to exploit that as roamer. After dropping no ubers and hitting an unholy amount of arrows last season Whiteglow has left quite big boots for duff to fill but I expect him to fulfill the role to an adequate standard. Meanwhile with the combo Forsak3n is a competent demoman, he may take a little bit of time to get into the swing of things but he knows what he is doing and should still be able to lead the team just as well from this class. The most exciting roster move of all has to be Shadowburn on pocket, criticised for always doing the same thing as roamer but everyone knows how good his aim and dm is, with Forsak3n pulling the strings we could see the rise of a mighty pocket or at the very least pad his youtube channel with some middies.

4-25

*Dikker* *Death* *Anak* *lippy* *baud* *Skappa*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

Not quite Epsilon but the the Russian and Ukrainian mix proved to be one of the surprise teams from last season, surpassing peoples expectations. With the often under rated but talented Dikker on medic bestowing the majority of heals on pocket demoman Death. Anak and lippy are the suicidal soldiers who throw themselves at the enemy team to make space for Death and his scouts to cause the real damage. Structured in their play and even without the legendary kensi, these Russian nice guys are sure to provide a stern test to Fenneks.

Lazy Pandas

*Kissakala* *Hildreth* *Zoob* *Muuki* *Sheepy* *yangpie*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

Lazy Pandas have the potential to catch some teams out. Hildreth knows what he is doing and so does Zoob making for a strong combo. Muuki can often be found wanting on the flank but with Sheepy by his side the flank should be more stable. Also, depending on who they get as the second scout (yangpie??) it could quickly turn into quite a formidable flank. You combine that with the solid combo and highlander fanatic Hildreth could have find himself a winning 6s formula that could turn some heads and some rounds. Or they might get smashed and everyone can have a small chuckle about highlander.

Publiclir.se

*OndKaja* *Smirre* *vani* *caps* *alba* *Dennia*
Medic Demoman Pocket Roamer Scout Scout

The all Swedish bottom pointers Saints complete our invited 8. They will start their campaign against Epsilon so... in the lower bracket they will face either Fenneks or Reason. Before the chorus of "lol saints" chimes in, they weere able to cause some upsets and put on strong performances at i49 beating Elem.V and my own legendary mix team featuring such mediocre prem players as Rake and Gubbins. So maybe the all in one day format suits them, they have a freedom to their play style with roaming heavies, constant snipers that may allow them to steal rounds from the unsuspecting prem snobs who will scoff at their structure. Especially a team with less experience together, such as Reason. You never know in these one day cups, and vani is a damn good player when he wants to be. Let's hope he can keep his promise of waking up early enough to play in this cup that starts at 14cest.
