FzeroI am having a hard time with that price.

same, was gonna buy tickets for my dad and i (getting him into the esports thing!) but $100 for one ticket (plus airfare, hotel, and food) is making me reconsider. i suppose it's expected because it's at the key arena and stuff but still a bit disappointing.

If you get a ticket wont the dota merch and signatures for ingame stuff etc make back your $?

It seems like people would pay a shitload for that stuff, but maybe I'm wrong. Also, holy shit watching TI3 games was the first time in a long time I audibly cheered at a monitor, and it'd be incredible to go. Too bad it's Seattle and I'm a broke gamer.

Yyyyaaoooo!

I am going with some of the Burnsiders. We actually have paid for 1 eXtra ticket right now, and have two sets of hotel rooms booked. We might cancel one of those rooms as we just have 4 at the moment, but we might bring some other friends with us.

If you're attending, definitely give me a holler and we can meet up.

I think TI3 in-game couriers ($150-$200) are worth less than the TI2 ones ($300-$400), and considering that TI4 didn't seem too hard to get tickets, they'll probably be cheaper plus the fact that the Key Arena stores like 4x more people than the Benaroya Hall did. There will probably be some way to make the money you spent back on the ticket if you're really worried about it. They were passing out free booklets at TI2 so we were able to grab a bunch and sell them on ebay for like $10-$15 each.

I sold all my TI3 items for around $400, if you waited in line for signatures you could make a lot more.

people profited from the pokeballs which came with lockless luckboxes (the items like shadowblade, alch chain and ball, nyx dagon etc) which used to all sell for like 50-100 ea even though the pokeblals cost like $5

i wouldnt be surprised if they just give everyone with vip tickets some exclusive item and it ends up being worth $2000

almost everything dota related ends up being worth mroe than the investment eventually

People who think $100 tickets to a 3 day 4+ hour per day event held in a big stadium is fucking delusional about how much this shit actually costs to put on.

I'll be honest when I say I have no clue how much LAN events cost, I can only apply the cost to other venues of the type, namely concerts. The best similar thing I could think of was this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_on_the_Range#2013_Lineup, which was about the same amount of money for tickets. While I will be the first to say that I don't play DOTA, I just find it hard to understand why their price is so high when you can watch in online for free. As much as I would love to watch that concert online, it's not something that could happen, let alone free. I maybe comparing apples to oranges, since I don't often attend gaming finals.

Edit- While I now understand that you are getting 5+ days of the event, that also adds to the cost of the hotel/travel/food/etc.
