I lied, I checked during lunch. Maela is right, except I think he'd be hard pressed to find2 metaphors worse than mine. As for #147,i do realize it. The exact thing you're talking about is why I started competing in the first place and I have thoroughly enjoyed competing against up and comers over the years, players like clockwork, lansky, Rando, yz50, all had drive to be the best and compete. This season has been miserable, and boring. Switching to another league with no incentive for any new clockworks or lanskys to come along will be even worse.

Alright so instead we watch the current clockwork and lansky continue to play on the only two teams that matter

While all paying for it
and having malware on our computer for another season
and killing our teams because of esea rules
and having to still deal with lpkane
and then having to donate money to the pariahs of 3rd and fourth place that go to LAN to smoke weed in hotel rooms with their friends (not that there's anything wrong with that)

~40000 competitive players in Europe? Would like to know how many of those have played in more than one match though.

Didn't you hear the news? The scene is dead. That's just phrakture alts.

i swear I just want to watch tf2, I wanted to see some competition this season but fucking brad and his buddies decide to quit because everyone is buttmad at e$ea, which is understandable but I just want to watch tf2 and watch blaze clock dummy brad and milo play, but e$ea has to be all dumb with their shitty service, this community is already a little town with a define group of circlejerks and making a new league will create stragglers and potentially cause a rift. And then when I hit a cool airship I can't say it was an invite airshot, wat the fuck will I say then.nobody has stepped up to the plate to stop b4nny from farming esea winnings and making a new league won't stop that, Mebe plat should stop being a shitty an finding other things to mad at and just beat b4nny idk, why do I gotta pay so much to play such a small game seriously, I don't know why do so many little kids play scout I don't know, what if I don't want to play mge for hours to get good i don't know maybe if e$ea premium and league fees weren't so expensive It would be worth it why should people keep giving those guys 40000$ dollars per team to get like 20th in the division because u can't compete with the sandbaggers. why compete when the servers aren't stable have the time and you are paying a company to have them spy on you and your fiends, I would be surprised if Torbul and his friends over at e$ea aren't actually interested in esports and real hiphop music, they are all just hired by Obama himself as spies to spy on the gaming community whistle generating some extra revenue for the country. Europe has no NSA and that's by there is no client in etf2l so maybe we should reconsider e$nsa(?)

You can't plat for losing anything, because in tf2 every single player on your team makes a mistake in every game, no one ttruly ever plays a perfect flawless game, if a team loses, its the teams fault. But back to the subject of farming esea and invite, if people wanted money that bad, they wouldn't be playing this shit game for money, they'd be working a real job, maybe 2 jobs. The money you get for the time you put in this game is a joke. The only true respectable money given to the topplayers in a game is dota2 and league

So let's say we all actually moved to a new league and it ran great, no lan, all the same players are still playing from this season... but wait, the competition is still shit, out of this season the only real breakouts that have done well and impressed others have been ant and sezco ( I'm counting new players to invite, so don't be offended, some old players have done really impressive shit too like mile high) so what do we have to look forward to in this league...? Well there's no lan, so a lot of mixup is gone, I'd assume some players on my team would quit just because competition is bad, Alfa's team would probably fold, or do something similar to us. And now we're left with wla at the top. Not to shit on anyone because I've always thought that competition was shit ever since I played invite my first season, but how many of the 1000 viewers we got for our match vs mix on metalworks, would, lets say want to watch wla vs Monet? I respect the players on their teams but, really? I wouldn't watch, since the quality of the game dropped. You'll see more errors in plays, and then you'll compare it to previous games. I always compare this season to last, and what's really funny is last season in my first match against mixup, we had 2500 people watch me die to seagull on mid, now we have 1000 viewers when we played mixup this season last week. Its pretty shocking that we somehow lost 1500 people when the two top teams play each other. So what I'm trying to say is, what exactly will be solved by hopping leagues, if the actual competition this season is really fucking shitty. I'm sure people want to save their e-rep and don't want to be mean, but honestly, the competition in this game is pretty shitty and what's our solution to solve that? Mentoring doesn't help because barely anyone actually learns shit that will improve their play consistently.

forgetting about watch this. this season was going to be close until watch this died. im pretty sure the watch this crew is at cevo. if we play in a league other than esea, im sure those guys would appear. there are a lot of good teams in main atm too. i can def see rent a homies being a force next season in invite or whatever. they put a lot of work in to get better. the competition would be there imo.

I think this is a big thing that's being forgotten in all the rush to leave ESEA. Yes ESEA sucks, their model is pretty crap, doesn't support our community well, the client is malware at best, all that. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that ESEA as a league is notably less than optimal. What needs to be addressed that hasn't been at all is how the level of play and competition is going to be stimulated. I don't personally have any solutions, I just got into comp play and don't know the scene well enough to say what will stimulate growth (assuming there is a way to), but even I can see that no matter what league the community chooses to play in, including if we stay in ESEA by the way, the issue of a drop-off in competition and growth needs to be addressed.

The growth of the lower invite teams will take time. This season a lot of the staple names you typically see in the mid-high invite teams moved to main / took a break / stopped playing this season with watch this. Next season the moveups should be more stable, and the lower invite teams that persist will get better + have a better stepping stone to get to the level of higher invite teams in the mid-high invite teams that will hopefully reform (I'm thinking more teams that are equal to or greater than liT in terms of skill).

I'll talk in terms of mge, if someone is significantly better than you, you can't really improve by just playing them over and over again. You need to face people who are better than you but not by too much, and continue building your skill progressively until you have face the person you used to be dominated by.

No, all the band wagoning kids are going to be more concerned about the leagues, and not about the competition, with no top level competition, the game dies and the drive to get better comes to a halt, I've already decided that besides scrims and matches, I'm probably never warming up or practicing till we play Alfas team or mixup, I'd rather do homework or something else more productive

enigmaKanecoenigmaKanecoETF2L has grown steadily over the past years despite being a community run free to play league, CEVO hasn't grown because people ditch it in favor of ESEA.yeaaaah none of this true

modeling the NA community after the dead european one is a good idea because ..?

Fair enough, I edited that out after I spoke to an etf2l admin and confirmed it. It hasn't grown but it isn't dead either. There were more than 300 teams signed up for the 6v6 league this season, that's at least 1800 players this season alone.

And I'm sure valve would be much more inclined or hinted to support a fully community run league than a business.
here are some cold hard facts:

sponsors do not magically appear
valve does not care about competitive TF2
european tf2 is dying
NA tf2 is stagnant

circlejerking each other about how a community-run league is going to save video gaming from the evils of capitalism and usher in a golden age of tf2 isn't just naive -- it's downright destructive

Did you know? Stating something as a fact without providing proof makes you appear as a fool!
