HngI think everyone just gave up.. not too sure though. It would still be nice if this could happen.

Not enough organization on our part, real-life probably happened.

The 6's meta is not stagnant. It's constantly changing. It just doesn't seem apparent to spectators but it's happening. Loose cannon, gunboats roamers, heavy pushes, etc.

Make balanced weapons and we'd see more.

If they scrapped the idea it certainly wasn't our fault. We DID do plenty of test games, and we submitted the data just like Salamancer asked us to. Maybe they did give up on it, but if they did it's not our fault. And apparently Valve doesn't hold too closely to their philosophy of balancing by numbers considering the inexplicable change to the crossbow. The weapon banning systems were fine. Not particularly complicated, just needed a proof of concept.

They didn't want data. They wanted a system. That was literally the whole entire point of trying to come up with a system. Apparently we didn't come up with a system that satisfied their needs and desires.

valve should watch tonight's game and see that our way of doing competitive is better than their idea of doing it. i hated the idea of a pick/ban system honestly, that's fine in dota but in tf2 it feels wrong.

No, they GAVE us the system. They wanted pick/bans, and asked us to play around with ideas. They didn't want a formula from us, they just wanted to examine our impressions of the formulas we tried. Besides, Valve isn't exactly known for doing things quickly. 6 months or whatever isn't that long for them.

Besides, I don't see what right most of the community has to comment on it, considering only a handful of 6s players actually got involved. If anyone's to blame it's the rest of the community for remaining aloof.

Look at CS. If valve sponsors one tournament from the money they make on this game, and add stickers for each team that can be applied to stranges, this game will blow up. They already make 100's of thousands off this game, they really should just try it as a business venture.

If they make the prizepot that of CS minors (like 75K), and they should not spend 250K on it, I'm sure many teams will want to attend, and many eyes in LoL, DoTA, and CS:GO will start looking our way.

Valve will never do anything with 6s, we are practicly on par with SSB Melee. We are trying to promote a competitive format that wasn't part of the games original formula. We are underground, and we just need to focus on ourselves if we want to keep this sport alive, no one is going to give us what we want unless we step forward and take it for ourselves.

Although this might not happen or work, maybe we should just allow no weapon bans and class limits and allow the 6v6 format.

Games will be played, and if the competitive TF2 as we know it with the 2 scout, 2 soldier, 1 demoman, 1 medic using certain weapons every time is so good, then let's show it to them. Pubbers may try the 6v6 format, go engineer/spy and etc. and realize it's not as viable as they keep losing each round and don't understand why. If enough of the competitive TF2 community plays the format we play, eventually they might learn what works and what doesn't.

Despite we are use to our class limits/weapon bans, and for certain reasons too of course, it might be good to make things unrestricted and let things go as they are in order for the game to evolve, like how CSGO gives the freedom of weapon choice, but certain guns are used anytime anyway cause they know what works. Same for Dota 2 to an extent. It wouldn't hurt to have it implemented, if we don't like it, we can just go back to our own matches/pugs/lobbies where there is weapon bans and class limits.

if u allow 2(+) medics are u still playing 6s tho? Every other class could be ran unlimited and you'd still have something similar to what we had, even if full time double heavy with 2 demo + pocket spam would be amazing. But multiple ubercharges seems like it'd destroy a decent part of how 6s paces itself. idk itd be great if we could talk to someone and see where we need to meet between current 6s and pubs idk :(

Fuck off I like my gametypes and they work and they're unique to every other competitive game out there and nothing comes anywhere no close the feel of tf2. It doesn't need to be changed, so what if it's super similar (not the fucking same; new strats are being thought of and done but it's just not this super new amazing impactfull playstyle, for example shadowburns uber quick rollouts and even something small like 4g using both clock+blaze in uber disadvantage to try and get a force or kill the med outright) There's no point of doing all this 'testing' when we'll probably just arrive back at square one with the stocks being used because they're the most balanced. Essentially there's no need to change our gametypes into just testing for valve, what we have is fun.

what would be real fun would be having an international :\

like what would be the penalty with running a 1 day tournament with no class/weapon limits? worst case scenario is we realize that our game only works with class limits and we never have to worry about valve support again. otoh, if it works, u can actually pressure valve into adding 6s lobbies using a proven game mode that people enjoy

I'd be scared that teams would run 4 demos and 2 medics, then Valve would use that as reasoning to bring back the sticky nerf.

The biggest problem with multiple demos in 6s and 5cp is still traps and honestly if demo is the only DM class you'd run without class limits, that means the game is too fundamentally broken to play without rulesets

(And that lobbies would never be added)

lamefxLets start with a list of absolute must bans.

everything except stock, with the exception of a few extras.

EDIT: another interesting topic would be how valve intends to spice up cs:go, are they going to add a pick ban on weapons? I'm not sure why anybody is thinking about jumping through valve's hoops like this.

The really ironic thing is that the Team Fortress series started off as a fucking mod itself. You'd think the game's developers (more like "maintainers" now) would be more open to a modification of their game, especially when it's as simple and easy to implement as class limits and weapon bans (arguably smaller map pool/game types as well).
