Actually this new /v/'s list is pretty accurate. It has the right mice up at the top (although I think the ec1 evo should be higher) It even mentioned the high CPU issue on the spawn despite it's great shape. SO they have done some research on it this time around.

x3i4nWhats the main diff between g400 and g500?

G400 = optical sensor
G500 = Laser sensor

Always opt for optical, imo.

flynn__1. Abyssus - Good claw grip mouse with a good sensor. Lift off distance is a tad high but not a huge problem. The shape is very very small though and if you are used to palm grip you won't like this mouse at all.

I feel like Razer gets a lot of crap for having flashy gimmicky mice, but the Abyssus is actually really simple. It has a low arch, symmetrical shape, and is pretty small. Great if you have smaller hands. The low price is just a bonus, highly recommend it. I went through two Deathadders before it, and I prefer the Abyssus slightly due to its size. Only thing I don't like about it is that it collects dried sweat from your hands on the glossy finish.

Have a soft mousepad? DON'T get a laser mouse.
Have a hard mousepad? You can use a laser mouse.

Honestly I prefer my sensei but I use a hard pad.

I would kill for an Abyssus with side buttons and the DA 2013 sensor.

Side note: The only reason that older SS mice aren't higher on the tier list above is apparently how they behave on different kinds of mousepads. I'm not an expert on them specifically though so take this with a grain of salt.

Personally, I would rather have a mouse with positive accel than have a mouse, like the g400, that weighs nothing at all. TBH, I feel like too many people use their mouse as the reason they are going poorly in a game. Of course there are mice (is it even mice?) that have extreme issues, but I really doubt you're going to be 10 times better just from using another mouse.

PS- After reading that list, I got pretty annoyed when he/she explains that weights are gimmicks because "lighter is better" as if it's a fact and not said persons opinion. When people ask about mice, just give the facts like this mouse has neg or pos accel, skips, etc. Explaining that "best shape ever made, get it now" will not help a single person. It's like asking someone, what is the best temperature in a house, it's completely subjective.

r4ptureI usually say the G400 is the best but even it has some problems. I play at ultra-low sens (raw mouse input, 400 dpi), and sometimes when I do a fast flick for a rocket jump it will spaz out. I don't know if its just my mouse or what but I don't know a better one offhand unfortunately.

I'd be open for suggestions of mice that work perfectly on quick movements on ultra-low sens.

Higher DPI and lower ingame/windows sens?

WithADanceNumberCan someone recommend me a mouse with a similar shape/sensor to the death adder but with better build quality?
Zowie ec1 looks similar, has anyone used it?

It also has mouse accel built into it and cannot be turned off and the side buttons feel as if they could break easily. They haven't broken for me yet but I don't use them as much. Aside from the side buttons its a good mouse would recommend it.

just get the ec1 "evo", it's even better shape than the DA since the side buttons are better situated and it's a tiny bit wider on the bottom middle area.

only the original EC1 & 2 have accel edit: prediction, not accel, apparently, the EC1 & 2 EVO editions have this problem fixed.

32hzyeah, i have used a g700, and a g9x.

g700 is trash.

basically the g400 is a really solid and reliable mouse, pretty cheap too.

alot of people stand by their deathadder and the sensei seems like a great choice, those were pretty much my choices when buying my new mouse, i went with the g400 it's great.

also the software is so muccch better than setpoint which is what the g700 and g500 use

Logitech Gaming Software support G700 now. I've used a G700 for a while now, only problem I have is that the mouse5 button (PTT key) keeps falling off, but I just use that special button above it for mouse5.

I've been contemplating down/sidegrading to a G400 or G500, but reading all this bad shit about G500 doesn't sound good. Anyone give me any good points about the G400 vs G500 vs G700?

I have a G500, and it's great except my mousepad is a Steel Series and it doesn't play nice all the time. I would really like to hear somebody explain both why the weight system is "bad" or useless, and what the advantage of G400 is (just the sensor?).
I'm probably going to be building/buying a new comp soon, so I'd like to get an educated opinion (unlike my own haha)

G500 has permanent mouse-accel
The weight system is a silly gimmick because a light mouse will be better 99% of the time, people just dont like the time between getting used to new sensitivities and weights so implementing a weight system makes that process a bit easier I guess.
G400 is superior to the G500 in both weight and sensor.

Just wanted to add that the Philips Twin Eye Laser z-axis-issue means that the cursor moves down and to the right instead of just down when you lift the mouse up. The Cursor will go back to it's original position if you set the mouse back down.
This can't be fixed, it's just because these are actually 2 different sensors for x and y axis.

Other than that the sensor is better than pretty much any other.

tl;dr
Twin Eye Laser most accurate laser, behaves different when lifted, z-axis-issue doesn't affect accuracy

Except that its not. The Philips Twin Eye is awful on cloth pads and hard pads offer no control.

kuzasorry but it's also too sensitive on cloth pads, forget the z-axis issue.

Yes, from what i've experienced it reacts to every movement. It is pretty much impossible to move the mouse without moving the cursor.

ScrewballExcept that its not. The Philips Twin Eye is awful on cloth pads and hard pads offer no control.

I don't know what you mean, tested it on both. The only i noticed was that it reacts to some tiny movements (when you try to not move your hand) to which other sensor wouldn't react. Might be a problem on high cpi.
