Can't install hud?

Hi, I have some problems installing a hud. After I reinstalled TF2 my previous hud (Garm3n) was gone, and it switched back to the default hud. I tried reinstalling Garm3n but it didn't work. I've also tried installing several other huds (rays, omp) and it still gives me the default hud so I'm quite sure it's not the hud's problem.

I copied the resource and script folders and put them in the tf folder several times, and it still doesn't work. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? Thanks!

Check if you pasted the hud files into the correct folder under the correct steam user. You could also try doing a fresh install of TF2, if you have time :x

The only thing I can suggest, is deleting your Resource and Scripts folders (And anything else affiliated with your HUD), and then installing it manually. (i.e. Not using an installer, and manually copying the files yourself).

If that still doesn't work, try doing it again, but setting the HUD to be Read-only.

Otherwise I have no idea, other than a clean re-install.

None of those work, sadly. I tried installing custom crosshairs as well and they don't show up under the choices of crosshairs. Maybe those 2 problems are related and from the same source?

I'm sure you are copying the files to the wrong directory.

Instead of navigating to the folder you think is the right one, please right click Team Fortress 2 in your Steam Library, click "Properties", select the "Local Files" tab and hit the "Browse Local Files" Button. In the Explorer Window that opens open the tf folder and copy the HUD files there (Resource/Scripts Folder).

Make sure the HUD files are in the correct location and that you do not copy extra subdirectorys or something.

Ah yup, that was indeed the problem. Thanks a lot!
