I'm going to look like a massive tool for bringing up my own maps but it might have been cool to see ultiduo_sacred and ultiduo_acropolis possibly considered. What follows are just my own opinions but I think Grove is among the only interesting maps here besides the two mainstays. A bunch of these are very uninspired remakes of either Standard (bridge above point) or Balloo (some nipple with slight variation) with a different visual theme. Also that mess Bunkalow is so cluttered and busy. I think it's awful for ultiduo and would work better with some kind of 3v3 koth.

The very first map we took into consideration was ultiduo_sacred. The reason it was refused to be played in the tourney was because of all the aids stairs that can block the rocket's damage, otherwise it would have been a good map to play on.
Acropolis.. I have nothing to say besides "There is cliff". Sorry, it just doesn't, in any way, follow the point of a fair ultiduo match. The idea of an ultiduo map is not to be esthetic but to be able to faithfully decide the better team.
The maps in the list are actually different from baloo and rb7 except for ultiduo_raksha that I added because the point is tighter and it kinda changes the whole gameplay due to the need of surfing all the time.
Koth_Bunkalow was a different map from all the others, and while it is true that I expected it to be disliked, there was nothing in the map itself that would scream "You can win by playing cheap/being lucky".
Your submitions would have been accurate if you actually received some constructure criticism apart from "was fun".

First and most importantly all the stairs have invisible ramps covering them like on all the comp maps that you're used to playing for years. No aids splash blocking to be had there dude... so that was very sad to read.

Secondly if you feel that a pit is morally unacceptable for an ultiduo game then that's just how you feel and I won't be able to change your mind. Let me say though that the pit plays a very small role in the deaths and only once or twice per game, if at all, do people fall off. It just acts to funnel the ammomod-type action down the center and adds some risk and excitement to the surfs. It's extremely hard to purposely throw people off the bridge, or accidentally for that matter. Most of the time when you see people getting thrown off it's when a much stronger soldier plays a much weaker one (like this). Call it cheap or unfair if you want but no one is getting 'lucky'. The better skilled players will always win the game in the end.

And finally I have no idea what you mean by your last sentence. Criticism is mostly negative but when people generally tend to like their experience and say "was fun" what more would you like them to say?

Maybe I had to be more clear by saying the stairs are limiting the rocket's damage instead of blocking it. This still does not change the fact that they can cost a well deserved kill. This is the reason people enjoy playing baloo, rb7, grove etc, they are rewarding the actual skill and thus the better team wins - simple as that. Stairs are forcing you to use splash damage all the way, not to mention the damage that is dealt is much lower.

About the map with the cliff, I don't think you have played any high-skill based matches. One airshot and you are already dead. A simple direct on the medic in the feet and he flies off. This is just stupid. I don't even think it is necessary for me to explain furthermore.

The feedback you've received is mostly.. none, apart from "was fun". This does not mean the maps are skill rewarding. Meme maps are also fun but are not played competitively, you know. ;)

Website Update:
- Fixed: Filter by region: Europe actually working now;
- Massive redesign of the team pages;
- Added ETF2L button link on users' pages;
- All other buttons have been animated;
- Several slight details around the website have been changed.

Yet to Update:
- Users' profiles
- Brackets' pages.

There are still quite a few teams that only have 1 player on the roster, you have 5 more days until the sign ups close and roster lock is applied.

This is my last post here as I've derailed the thread enough. I have no idea wtf you are talking about and disagree with literally everything you say.

How is there much lower damage on ramps? You mean playing the terrain as cover from the low ground? But you can only do that for a second while they advance on you and then you're on low ground. Do you mean when you stand on the ramp and then jump forward to surf off? You can do that anywhere. Both teams are playing around the same geometry and the higher skilled players will always win with better rockets, whether it's directs or splash. You realize rb7 and baloo (and most of the other maps) have ramps in them too, right? Granted they're less centrally located.

On the cliff map I have both played and watched other players play ranging from average to very good. I don't think any of them have been accused of cheating by prem players though so maybe they're not as good as you. It makes no sense that you think it's so easy to knock people off. That is empirically 100% false. It almost seems to me like you haven't played the map. Then again you seem like a big ultiduo enthusiast and a huge chunk of your profile is chatlogs bragging about how good you are so I feel like you would have played it maybe? I'm absolutely trash at soldier and I guarantee you would not be throwing me off that cliff. You'd be beating me in a flat ground ammomod exchange and with airshots (which wouldn't throw me off 99% of the time).

Finally you seem to value "feedback" comments in the thread a lot and imply that they relate to the map being "skill rewarding". What literally would you like the comments to say? "Wow that was fun AND skill rewarding!". That, or what? Feel free to explain since I do not see the correlation. It's perfectly fine if the maps are not to your taste but you're holding them to some kind of standard that you have of what is "skill rewarding". What does that mean exactly? These two maps play like any other where the team that is more skilled will place better rockets and hit more bows. If some chumps are being pushed off the cliff repeatedly then they are significantly outskilled and deserve it.

You can disagree as much as you want, this is of little concern to me.

Ultiduo_sacred is played like canal_rc3a2, but the point is smaller and you can't just walk on it but circle around it, which lowers the rocket's splash damage, and going for directs will almost never work. Why is it so hard for you to understand? It's like you have never played your own map

This one with the cliff.. have you ever hit an airshot? Like, if you have ever done that you wouldn't have talked so much bs. Even if you are godlike at surfing, you can't do much if your jump has been accelerated by the airshot.

About my profile, I'm making fun of people who, out of anger, say things like that. I see you are going with this personally but you don't know what you are trying to achieve yourself.

You still don't understand anything about feedback.. Just because your tftv thread is spammed with "was fun" doesn't mean it is even remotely perfect. Different maps in ultiduo are both welcomed and not, due to the current maps for the gamemode having just about the same properties, and adding aids cliffs and ramps right in the middle will most likely never work, as in your case. Why do you fight with me only, why don't you ask TFCLeague for example, they host seasonal ultiduo with different maps every season (with baloo and rb7 remaining) but I have never seen your maps there, wonder why? :>

Instead of trying to show me that you can stop thinking on what i'm trying to explain you, go fix your maps and stop spamming the thread, it is tiring to explain something over and over again to someone who won't even bother their brain cells to understand it.

I fail to see the difference between what you're talking about, and circling around the point on baloo. They both provide some cover which lowers the damage you can take from splash. You can either beat them at their own game splashing, or force the issue by pushing over the point.

This is pretty dumb, considering you haven't played either of Jaguar's maps even once in the several months they've been released. Don't act like you know more about the map than people who've extensively playtested it.

You will never see the the logs because we tested all the maps with in-game commands at once, therefore you can't see me playing canal bunkalow etc. for the last few months that are from the list as well.

About your point about baloo.. The point on baloo is flat, sacred has stairs. Dunno how you can even compare them.

Tournament News:
Due to the exclusively low amount of North American teams that have signed up for the tournament, a North American bracket will not happen. All the teams will be automatically moved to the European bracket on Friday so they have enough time to drop out if they want. For those that may not want to do so, I shall inform you that you will be forced to play on European server unless both teams agree to play on a different server region.
Medals will receive those who make it through the group stages and advance to playoffs.
Maps will be announced tomorrow, even though you can already see which of them will make it in. The first round will be generated on Friday 10pm CET (4pm EST). Late participants are allowed before the 2nd round is generated (that's when roster lock will be applied as well). All 3 rounds of the Group Stages will take place on Saturday, first one played at 7pm CET (1pm EST), second one played at 8pm CET (2pm EST), third one - 9pm CET (3pm EST). Results must be submitted until 10 minutes before the next round is generated (this requires the match to have begun no more than 15 minutes after the default time). Failure to do so will result in a random winner being picked so the next round can be generated.
If the enemy does not accept friend request, you shall post the connect string in the match comms box (only visible for the both teams). If they do not appear 15 minutes after the default time, feel free to submit results as 2-0 for your team.
First round of Playoffs will be generated on Saturday 11pm CET (5pm EST). More info on that soon.

Wrapping up:
The Grand Finals will take place on Wednesday (Tomorrow) at 19 CET! If you want to tune in, make sure to visit https://www.twitch.tv/essentialstf
Apparently essentials.tf have no casters available due to Rewind, despite our expectations for it being otherwise. Grand Finals will still take place tonight at 19, but it will not be covered, sadly. Sorry for the bait :D

With this I'm wrapping up the tournament, everything went as predicted and we finished approximately by the end of the month. I am definitely planning to host another tournament with much more improvements, based on your feedback that I have received during this tourney. This will be, though, around the summer probably and depending on what other leagues are planning to do

The teams that will receive prizes as well as the people that will receive Helper medals will be announced tomorrow night.
