I have 3 options,

LG 24GM79G-B
Zowie XL2411

^ these two are in stock at a store nearby and could buy today (preferred)

ViewSonic XG2401

^ I like this one the best but I’d have to get it shipped and I’m impatient

I don’t need freesync

budget? the XL2411 is the best of the cheap entry level 144Hz, though you might want to shell out more for better colours or resolution

it seems all you get extra on the viewsonic is inbuilt speakers (puke) and freesync which you said you didnt need

Do you want strobing? XG2401 doesn't have it.
If you do have an AMD GPU then the LG 24GM79G-B would still offer an additional feature, even if you don't absolutely need it.
Also, price?

when you say strobing is that the motion blur reduction on the lg? If so I am interested in experimenting with it, if it works well I would probably use it. It’s like lightboost but better right? I don’t have an amd gpu at the moment and am planning to stay with nvidia for a future build. Freesync will be of no use to me.

LG is $339 CAD + tax
Zowie is $300 CAD + tax
ViewSonic is $330 CAD + tax

sales tax is 13% where I live and there’s a $7 dollar environmental disposal fee or some shit that’s added to monitors so my budget is $400 with these costs included.

It's exactly like Lightboost.
If you want more options then you can use this https://www.blurbusters.com/benq/strobe-utility/ but only on the Zowie.
So you can't use FreeSync and the Zowie offers the most options for strobing and it's also the cheapest.
I think you can figure it out from here.

While this is up whats the general opinion on Alienware nowadays in terms of quality, in the market for a new monitor and torn between a Benq 27" 144hz or an 240hz 24.5" Alienware Monitor. I remember Alienware having a bad rep for their products but they seem to have stepped up things with sponsors (i.e. CS major and HRX).

Let's take a step back.
You're not choosing between multiple 27" 144 Hz monitors or multiple 24.5" 240 Hz monitors, you're choosing between a 27" 144 Hz and a 24.5" 240 Hz.
And apart from that the only information is the brand name.
And you're going to make a decision which one to buy based on what people think the quality of their products in general is like, not the actual quality or performance or features of the monitor you'll buy.
And you think that one of the brands got a bad reputation but now they are sponsoring more esports events and that somehow has made their products better?

I'll be honest I have no idea what you think quality is so I can't tell which of the monitor that you didn't name is of better "quality" by your definition.

How is that even related?
Would you have to buy a new monitor if you upgraded to a 1080 later?

Is that just a random statement or do you want me to slowly piece together the actual question or is it really that hard to ask "Which 144 Hz monitor would you recommend?" if you want a recommendation for a 144 Hz monitor?

I assumed you'd understand what I meant to say straight away. I never wanted to cause any distress. Let me re-ask my question in a clearer manner.

Which 144Hz monitor would you recommend for a PC with gtx 1060. Thanks for your time and patience :)

I think the point is that your graphics card is irrelevant. You could have a 1050 or two 1080s in SLI and it literally won't make a difference in which monitor you buy if you get more than 144 fps. If you get less than that, you might want to reconsider getting a 144hz. If you get more than that, what gfx card you have is irrelevant and shouldn't matter. The only thing that matters at that point is price range and maybe features.

flyyyyI never wanted to cause any distress.

Too late, the memers have come to take you away. It was nice knowing you.

Correct. If he was unsure whether or not he'd get 144 fps then maybe it would've mattered but he should've asked about that.

Apart from the budget preferred size and resolution would also be important.

Setsul, what monitor(s) do you have? Why?

Would you change it for another, if so, why?
