I've started getting an issue lately where I sometimes can't hear the sound of my gun firing while there are some other noises going on in the background. It's especially noticeable when I fire at the same time as my enemy does.

Those are my audio settings:

dsp_enhance_stereo 0
dsp_slow_cpu 0
snd_async_fullyasync 1
snd_pitchquality 1
snd_spatialize_roundrobin 1
snd_mixahead 0.05
snd_mix_async 1

I had the same problem using mastercomfig, went away using -default -autoconfig launch options, don't know which cvar or launch option is to blame and don't have time to test so I just went back to my old config

Are you using the -primarysound -snoforceformat launch options?

Also, you can try raising your snd_mixahead cvar to 0.08 or 0.1.

Those are the only launch options I use:

-console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd

If this is only happening in tf2, you need to raise your snd_mixahead.

Setting snd_mixahead too low will cause sound cut-offs and distortions.

Setting snd_mixahead to 0.1 didn't help, still getting occasional glitches.

So I'm making this thread alive again, because it apparently only happens on some servers, and not others, but is nonetheless annoying af. Still haven't found a way to fix it though.
