lagspikes once every 2-3 minutes on tf2

For the past 2 weeks I've been getting 4-5 second long lagspikes once every 2-3 minutes where my ping goes up to 300-500ms.
I've made sure it wasn't my router or my internet cables acting up, my computer, steam, or any other program isn't doing any downloads, I'm not using wi-fi and it's off even, the only thing connected to my internet is my computer and just recently I found out that it only affects TF2.

I've tried looking up for any fix online but everything I can find are 7 year old posts with either no replies, solved but there's no explanation, or fixes that I've already tried out but didn't resolve anything.
Coincidentally this started happening ever since that mystery TF2 update that Valve doesn't even say wtf they did.

I'm getting desperate, my internet is already bad itself and it can't be my ISP because otherwise it would've also affected other games, unless there's something I'm not seeing here, regardless, please help.

Enable net_graph 5 and make a screenshot while it happens.

I'm getting the exact same thing and have been wondering if it was my internet... perhaps not?

edit: also for the past two weeks, same time intervals

tf2 seems to have a new random lag issue every year that only occurs in tf2 and nothing else. very bizarre

Hi, could you try a higher splitrate

net_splitrate 4

and disable the queued packet thread:

net_queued_packet_thread 0

add launch option

-NoQueuedPacketThread

Not sure if this is relevant but I'm on wifi and was experiencing this quite often, but I went into my wifi card's settings and realized I was connected to a 2.4ghz signal instead of 5ghz. Switched to a 5ghz one and everything was super smooth (at my school at least, eduroam is available on both frequencies)

I have the exact opposite lmao. 5ghz makes my ping go crazy and 2.4 stabilized it.

StockI have the exact opposite lmao. 5ghz makes my ping go crazy and 2.4 stabilized it.

5ghz networks usually have a smaller range than 2.4ghz networks. if you're getting worse spikes on 5ghz, you're physically too far away from the router.

Spannsyeah unfortunately, though only spiked up to 310ms and once every 5 minutes instead of the usual 3

nvm it's back to exactly what it was before.

Also bumping this because it turns out there are numerous other players who have been experiencing these very same lagspikes ever since that mystery tf2 update from mid-september came so I'm assuming it's a bug with TF2.
If any of this sounds familiar to you, post here.
