I absolutely loved listening to Linkin Park when I was in middle school, and I've always felt connected to the emotion LP's music and Chester's vocals conveyed. To call this a tragedy would be a massive understatement in my eyes.

RIP Chester Bennington. It's a horrible shame that we've lost you. :,(

Used to have Meteora on repeat while playing RE4 for a year. They were a big part of my childhood. This is absolutely terrible. Losing a real close friend and dealing with constant shit because his band was heading in a different direction on top of already existing depression problems must have put a lot of pressure on him.

Chester was very close with Chris Cornell, who himself committed suicide by hanging in May. Today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. Chester wrote an open letter to Chris on the day of Chris' suicide.

sacOne celeb suicide is a tragedy, a million anonymous suicides a statistic.

If anyone dies, it's a tragedy for people who knew him/her. If a celbrity dies, it affects a siignificantly larger group of people (cause you know, being a celebrity means being widely known).

I haven't been much of a Linkin Park fan, but this was a shock to me whatsoever...

Man, this news really hit me hard. Linkin Park was one of the only bands I've been meaning to see live, having played such a huge part of my childhood.
I never liked their new album, but looking back at the style change now, a more melodic "happy" sound makes a lot of sense. I just have no words to properly express this shit. I mean... fuck. Suicide is no joke, and whenever it happens to somebody you know or respect, it tends to change your view on them, and kinda analyze their old life a bit more. There were so many clues leading up to this shit, yet no body saw them.

Linkin Park wasn't a typical band. They were like a family. My thoughts go out to them, and to Chester's actual family, and his 6 kids. Just... rip.

Honestly, when I first read the news? I instantly thought it was a joke. It came from TMZ, and I just don't trust their shit. I mean, do you have any idea how many times Stan Lee has died? It's just, I didn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it.

Even now I'm still wondering if this is just one giant joke. Like an inside joke that no one but LP themselves understand. But I know it isn't. It's just... too real.

Truthfully, past the jokes and stereotypes about the band, Linkin Park was actually one of the first bands I really liked when I was a kid. I used to listen to them all the time when I was around 9 - 13 years old.
Really sad news, gonna have to go back and listen to their music one more time

It'll be hard to listen to a lot of their songs now. Easier to Run, Breaking the Habit, etc
