TFTV Weekly Series: May Edition Feedback Thread

Hello guys, obviously by now the first 2 Weekly Series for both EU and NA have ended. As this is my first time organizing a tournament, obviously I definitely expected for some hiccups and problems to surface. So, before the Weekly Series #2 starts (probably around the end of June or something), I'll be clearing up some extra details.

  • First up, matches can be played off the FACEIT system (using the Live Issue system), we'll have to input the scores manually. This is the case with the EU Series #1, but not with the NA one, because I'm a sleep deprived human who forgot to enable it.
  • As of now, the Weekly Series' prize pool is among the highest one in FACEIT so far compared to the other weekly tournament organizers on FACEIT. With that said, now the prize pool is now 10,000 FACEIT Points. The 20,000 points prize pool was in agreement with FACEIT for Weekly Series #1.
  • Registration open a week before the tournament, you can still register during the Check In phase (the Check In phase is 1 hour long before the tournament starts). This ensures if a team is interested to join they can ensure they can definitely compete in the tournament.

So now, for Weekly Series #2, what do you want to see? What went wrong for Weekly Series #1 from your view, and how we should deal with it? What do you think will attract more players/teams to participate in the tournament? Comment below!

That's what the Live Issue system for. Unfortunately once you use your first 6 in the tournament you can't change your roster, this was the issue with Se7en. So you can use your subs to play off FACEIT's system and we input the scores manually, and if you are being casted just give us the IP through the discord or the match room chat. For 5v6, I think I need to ask the FACEIT admins about that.

No event in the upcoming events seemed odd, when I got a notification that tftv was streaming I legitimately thought someone had gone live by accident.

Yes I forgot to ask Cornpop to put the NA series on the events thread (I was asleep I can't be arsed to stay over 24+6 hours the next day). EU got one though, but because I was directly organizing it that time.

Promotion was incredibly lacking imo. I barely even remembered that the tournament was happening yesterday.

Seeding is done automatically based on your team's FACEIT level. I'll ask the admins if we can do manual seeding, but AFAIK we can't.

This would be very nice, because in the first EU round my team, a new mid team went up against lowpander. Lowpander should have been a top4 seed. Because lowpander had low faceit score they had a low seed, this resulted in my team only playing one not close, not fun game. We were also the only teams in the first round not to get a bye, so we should have played a team of similar skill in the first round.

This also affected lowpander as due to them having a low seed, they a top 4 team went up against another top 4 and eventual winners arctic foxes in the round of 16. This meant that lowpander went out in 9th-16th. No offence to the teams who finished from 4th-8th but the best team in that group was a high team.

I know some teams have to play the good teams in the first round even in a properly seeded system, and if that is my team i can accept that. However there were several teams who if this was seeded by etf2l div would have been below mine. Im not expecting my team to win this or even go very far, but we at least want a chance to be able to play several games.

I will still try signup my team for the next one but if we consistently get fucked by the seedings then it will just become a waste of time. If you dont want to bother seeding the entire competition, maybe try seeding just the top 8 teams so that you dont get two top 4 teams meeting in the round of 16.

Also the system still doesnt support koth, and still has issues causing games to be played of system. It has been like this for quite a while, is faceit using the valve devs?

Sorry but this will always happen as the best teams should play against the worst teams in the first bracket so all the best teams will go through and the worst teams will get knocked out so that we can have a good final / semi final. If they were to base each match with similar skill level then it will cause the highest/best quality tf2 at the start of the tournament instead of the end. ( this is how it works in etf2l during the playoffs)

The problem in this scenario was that since the faceit system rely on the faceit elo which is not accurate due to people not playing on the system. So even if the elo were accurate you will still get rolled on the first game depending on how good your team is compared to the other teams.

In the first complete round yes I agree, but not in an incomplete round. The round of 16 had a full 16 teams, however the round of 32 had only my team vs lowpander. That game should not involve any high seed teams, it should be the two lowest seeds. The top teams should all get byes to the later rounds. So if my team got matched vs low pander in a complete round i have no problem with that, some team needs to play the good teams and everyone does eventually. My issue is that we played them in the only game of the round of 32
