Hello everyone!

I am fairly new mapper, so pls be gentle on me.
I have made a new ultiduo map called ultiduo_canal. The map has clear resemblance to cp_sunshine as well!
I have made this map all myself, but I have gotten some really great feedback on the earlier versions from my friends.

This doesnt mean that I won't be looking for feedback now!!!!
Please do keep in mind, this is a beginner project so it's not perfect. It doesn't mean that I wouldn't be looking to make it as near perfection as I can!

judging from the screenshots on the steam workshop, the cap point has a bunch of stairs around it in a circle, if they are indeed stairs (instead of a ramp), do they eat splash?
if they do eat splash you should probably change them to a ramp instead because that shit is lame af
also im not sure exactly what's the point of the design, aside from jumping from the lower spawn entrance towards point, it seems like the majority of the map is flatground (i.e., ammomod mge)

what makes ultiduo maps like koth_ultiduo good is that there's height variance and so there's pro's and con's of standing on cap vs holding above point (when you're capping, you're on lowground and can easily get spammed from above, but if you hit nutty upward directs onto the bridge you can make up for it)
it also forces medics to make a decision to climb up the side after capping or stay on the ground, depending on how long their spawns will take
with this map (and baloo to an extent) none of this decision making really exists so it boils down to gullywash mge with a medic trying to hit xbows, whichever team hits better rockets/arrows pretty much wins

i dont play that much ultiduo (riceguy or someone who plays a lot of it can correct me if im wrong) nor am i a mapmaker so take what i say with a grain of salt

Stairs work like ramps so you cant shoot through them, nor you can get stuck in them!
But yeah thanks for this really thoughtful post, I appreciate it! That's why I made a version with a nipple as well because I felt that it was better for ultiduo.

I still included a version without the nipple though because I felt like it was more fun to play. I'm going to see the people's comments over the map and see if I should either keep the nipple or remove it.

But yeah thanks for this really thoughtful post, I appreciate it! That's why I made a version with a nipple as well because I felt that it was better for ultiduo.

In the nipple version the nipple feels too big and wide. It makes fighting awkward.

New versions are out! R3A2, with updates such as:

  • made the houses out of bounds to look more pretty. Also added some details on them!
  • spawn roofs are now aligned with the wall, so you're now able to jump upwards from the wall without getting stopped
  • fixed telephone being solid
  • made windows a bit higher (they didnt work that low!)
  • fixed a lighting issue in spawn
  • also fixed an awkward angle caused by a platform
  • also also fixed a clipping issue with the platform in the middle of the map
  • pushed chainlinks below stairs a little bit inside the staircase
  • small wooden doors on the small huts near middle point are not solid anymore
  • fixed a small corner on the red and blue hut roof that you were able to stand on

That was fast. Good job with the changes. A couple other small changes are pushing the other chainlink fence back in spawn like you did with the first one, and maybe getting rid of collision with the small edge of the roofs of the buildings near mid. These are just small things though, keep up the great work man.

As an ultiduo main I want to salute you for that new fresh map, it looks amazing might play it just as often as baloo haha. I like the wide nipple as it forces you to use ground dm more rather than surf and spam. Gonna play it for the first time now tho, but in single player it was just amazing. TFCL is using it for round 5 as well, congratz !
