What i want to do is completely reset everything of my tf2 game to default so i can start over with customizing my game, like if i installed it for the first time.

I've tried many things included uninstalling and reinstalling the game but it still keeps some old settings that i no longer want. Any help on how to do this?

put -autoconfig in launch options and launch tf2. Assuming you've deleted your configs/hud

remove everything in /custom and delete any class configs and your autoexec.cfg AND your config.cfg

go into console and type

unbindall; exec config_default

then restart your game and set the launch options `-autoconfig`

once you get in, quit and remove that from your launch options

you *should* have a fully reset tf2 now

this is total overkill but better safe than sorry

sometimes steam cloud stores some things which it tries to add again after you clear everything. Maybe try turning that off too.

  1. Set the following launch option and start TF2
    • -default
  2. When in the main menu: host_writeconfig to generate a new config.cfg with default settings
  3. Quit game, sync config to cloud
  4. Remove the -default launch options and replace with
    • -autoconfig -dxlevel 95
  5. Relaunch game to set up your video and audio settings
  6. Quit again, sync config to cloud & remove every launch option set previously, replace them with:
    • -novid -high
