As well as the SSD, I would consider getting a Intel Pentium G4620 rather than an i3, you lose out on some very minor things but the pentium is normally a bit cheaper.

You can also save a bit by not buying hyperx fury RAM and going for something like a Corsair Vengeance LPX kit.

Also you dont need such a large PSU a 500 or 550 watt one will be fine even if you decide. If you do decide to change around your components you can use https://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/ to get an estimate of what wattage you need.

If you want to improve tf2 perf improve your cpu more than any other component, if you are comfortable with trying overclocking then go for a unlocked cpu as increased clock speeds will help tf2 more than a cpu with more cores as tf2 doesnt scale well at all

^ only go for the pentium if you're overclocking. it's a really good budget cpu if you do

it looks like you're on a budget so i'd recommend trying to find a used gpu. you can also try to find a used cpu (i did) from the ddr3 times but it's a bit of a pain since you need to find an old motherboard too so i wouldn't really recommend it

2nded on the recommendations for a small SSD (if you can work it into the budget) and a lower PSU wattage

make sure you plug that stuff into pcpartpicker to double-check compatibility (especially with case space)

This is not customization, this is hardware.

I don't recommend low end mobos. Getting the cheapest one is usually something you'll regret later.
Caviar what, SATA what? 90% of WD HDDs are Caviar something and all consumer HDDs are SATA [version]. This could be literally anything.
Ignore brand names for RAM. Only capacity, speed, timings (CL14 for example) and sometimes voltage matter. If those are the same get whatever is cheapest.
The 6100 is 2 years old. There's newer, faster options at the same price and one with the exact same speed at a lower price.

The RX 470 is around the same price and much faster.
That's a 200W build, what are you trying to do?

Also what is your budget?

The G4620 is not overclockable.

I'm not sure what kind of budget he's on since he wants to spend more money on the PSU than on the CPU or GPU.

If you add $100 to your budget, you could make your build a whole lot better and add years to its life. I know this might be a bit much, but you didn't really put a great percent of your budget to your CPU and GPU.

I would never recommend an i-3 for any computer you plan to game on-- especially with a CPU-intensive game such as TF2. I'm sure you could do it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Nice PSU tho, especially if you got it on sale. Also, dual-channeling your RAM isn't that important but recommended by many. If you bought the 4GBx2 then fantastic, 8GB will be enough for most things you can do on a PC right now. If it's just one 8GB stick, I would recommend upgrading in the future with another 8GB stick. 16GB of RAM should last you forever.

A great sale resource: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/
And there's one for Europe but not as active: https://www.reddit.com/r/BaPCSalesEurope/

You do know that especially in TF2 an i5 or i7 is exactly as fast as an i3 with the same clockrate?

SetsulHave you benchmarked it? I did.

I mean I only have one CPU so I've never been able to do any tests, no. I just say i-5 because unless TF2 is the only game you're playing, an i-3 won't cut it for a lot of today's games.

What do you mean upgrade?
Did you already buy the parts? I thought you wanted to build next month.
Or do you mean improve the part list?

Same in the first post, you wrote you bought them, but you want to build next month.
I'm getting the feeling that something is getting lost in translation.
Bring me the Swedish intern!

i recommend letting setsul know your intentions, and just have him pick parts out for you, he very smart with computers, just so you don't make a mistake down the road

What do you want me to do? You already got the parts and the choices are not ideal, to put it mildly.
