NASA discovers Earth-like planets near TRAPPIST-1

TRAPPIST-1, which is a dwarf star about 39 light years, was initially found last year to have 3 planets orbiting it, and they were in a good distance away from the star to possibly support water (and therefore life). Today they discovered that there's actually 7 Earth-like planets orbiting the star, and all of them could possibly support life.

Shame that they're 40 lightyears away. It would take forever for us to get there.

EM Drive was still HYPE, last time I checked.
With 7 candidates this is one of the best options for colonization. Might not live enough to see it happen though.

Should be <4x10^12 ms, so it's fine.

I think announcing that they want to upgrade as many satellites to EM drive as soon as possible doesn't make a whole lot of sense if they don't believe it works.

So far results of experiments:
NWPU: Test says yes, but they are not sure because of noise.
Eagleworks: Test says yes, but they are not sure because of noise and other reasons.
TUD: Test said yes in two configurations, but there was a ton of noise in the third so they are not sure anymore.

That's why everyone wants to test it in space.

Unfortunately its unlikely to for these planets to harbor life, especially advanced life because brown dwarfs like Trappist-1 tend to have extremely violent solar flares, especially given how close these planets are to the star. Also because they are so close to the star (~3% of distance between earth and sun) they are likely to be tidally locked (like the moon is to the earth), meaning that they will have one side facing the sun and one away from it always, which will mean that life will only be possible around the equator, as well as being much more impacted by those solar flares. :(
