KavNub_DanishkawaPeople want something where they can hop in and get carried, where they don't have to learn anything to do well.

That's why starcraft and quake are dead, and cs and dota aren't growing anymore.
if this were the mentality why is support the least played role?
cuz it doesnt actually help all that much. its less about being unable to aim and more about just being able to win/help despite not knowing shit. supports almost always need a decent amount of metagame knowledge to do well, and when they dont they just bait the shit out of their team and accomplish nothing. but a new player could easily pick soldier, +forward into their team, spam rockets and die and people could play off that damage.

kawas idea is that people play games and want to get carried
support characters essentially have to get carried because on there own they do not have enough individual damage etc so if people really just wanted to get carried they'd play support

no because noone wants to play support. in the same way many people dont want to play medic in tf2.

thats my fucking point nobody wants to play support because they want to feel like they have an impact they wanna feel responsible for winning
people probably dont like 1v1 games as much now because when you lose you have no one to blame, but yourself and people dont like blaming themselves so they say "the games just shit" and stop playing it instead

I dunno man. I've seen quite a few solo q mcrees and melee agi safelane carries who straight up fucking suck, no idea what they're doing and don't make an effort to play with their team (then proceed to blame their team)

That's my whole point. It's not about the role. You see all these "carry" players getting angry when someone feeds firstblood, but when they fuck up it's no big deal. You'll see people laddering different games always complaining about who fucked up and caused them to lose. It's a casual mentality.

wruas someone who's visiting cpma/reflex discord quite frequently i saw lots of complaints in regards of developers and how allegedly they don't know shit about keeping their own game afloat; and of course when your updates go like 'added a bunch of melee skins and two bugfixes' for a while you know its no good (hi tf2). theyve added mm recently but im afraid at this point the game is beyond salvation: quake live has much more players and offers pretty nice 'casual' arena fps experience, if you want a real challenge - play cpma

the game doesnt belong to neither of categories coz its not as sharp as cpma and doesnt have enough players to even compete with quake. [*]

i just checked, the game's all time peak is 169 jesus christ for a game that was virtually everywhere at one point these numbers are drastic. glad to see Admirable's review on top though, hi Admirable!

<3
While you're at it bud, come join in on CTF pickup some time :D

Also to those of you who play Reflex, you guys should queue for 2v2 more often please!

EDIT: Forgot to say to also queue for CTF :D

This is an incredibly insightful and very true post tbh and I wish this could be quoted/posted elsewhere or shown to Valve or whatever. When do we get "Pick up and play" that doesn't involve having to fix/change a dozen things? When I picked up Overwatch, I didn't have to set a damn thing. It detected my graphics card, set everything up, and it was basically ready to go, no issues.

the first time i played reflex, i joined the first game that had people in it and topscored. it was really fun. the same thing happened when i played quake live. i am now terrified to play either of these games because i know both experiences were complete flukes.

Recommended max res on your new gpu for decent frames

quake live is not f2p anymore but if you've payed for premium/pro in the past you don't have to buy it again

Avvyquake live is not f2p anymore but if you've payed for premium/pro in the past you don't have to buy it again

Plus, it has a base price of $10 and gets discounted to at least 50% occasionally (was 66% off this winter sale, which is inexplicably less than the 80% discount of 2015 winter sale). I'd argue that it's so cheap that it's basically free. You could possibly snag it for even less if you Steam trade for it; there's no regional lockout and the game costs less than 50% of the base price in a currency like rubles... and the discounts stay the same.
