Big "Meet Your Match" survey

Hello, comrades!

It's been almost a month since the Meet Your Match update. So I wonder what the community thinks of it now.

It has already been published on the /r/tf2 and /r/truetf2 yesterday, so if you filled out the form, there is no need to repeat.

You can fill out the survey HERE.

If you just want to take a look at the current survey results you can go here.

Very nice on the weapon balance questionairre, I feel that's one of the more helpful, less general things that needs to be talked about.

It sucks, Highlander is not supported, so it sucks.I get that 6v6 is a thing, but why the fuck is Highlander not an option?

highlanders existance is a testament to valve shitty balance attempts over the years so if theyre actually trying to push competitive itd be kinda dumb to support it.

you know besides the logistical stuff.

There are some experienced players who prefer highlander, but I think a huge portion of this comes from players who don't have much (or any) experience in either format. I know that when I first began looking into competitive TF2, I was drawn more to highlander than to 6s, it seemed a more intuitive format. After playing multiple seasons of both formats, I strongly prefer 6s.

I think that most of those highlander votes are players who don't have the experience to know which one they actually prefer playing, just which idea appeals to them more in theory. Over time with matchmaking, I'd expect this balance of opinion to shift.

yeah. After plunging the depths of /r/tf2 for a year I've noticed the majority of it comes down to "I don't play either but I hate that 6s is only 4/9 classes" which makes sense if all you do is pub. Understanding why 6s is the way it is really does just require playing both gamemodes for a while and seeing how things really work. You may think you want to play fulltime spy but after going 5 and 40 over an hour and a half game you start to realize this isn't what you wanted either.

preachin' to the choir, but: HL looks like it's a more balanced format. it isn't, because classes like sniper mean a million times more than any other slot (and as a result, HL play can easily devolve into which sniper gets the right picks first), but because every class has to be accounted for (no matter how useless they are for many points in the match) a casual player sees the list of players and assumes there's more variety

and let's be real, valve for the longest time was balancing classes with the idea that they were all treated equally, and casual players know that. it's going to take a while to break habit

I haven't played competitive or casual since the update you should probably make it so that it doesn't ask you questions related to things you've never played

Also you should check the grammar lol things like this shouldn't happen

Objective focus didn't changed much.

Edit who the fuck is rhapsody and what do you have against comanglia

This survey is super well thought out, thanks for putting it together!

With that said, I really wish there was a question asking which tf2 community you found the survey on, it would be interesting to see the disparity in answers between communities.

English isn't my native language, therefore you may encounter some grammatical, lexical, phonetic, logic and kernel errors. I apologize in advance for that.

if that's the first mistake you found, u gotta check ur own grammar lol

dagrinchI really wish there was a question asking which tf2 community you found the survey on, it would be interesting to see the disparity in answers between communities.

I wasn't 100% sure where the survey will be posted, so I didn't included that question. But I made a snapshot backup of survey data just before posting it here. So, I believe, it will be possible to see the impact of the responses collected here.

GentlemanJonCan I get a link to the raw results?

I was going to post raw data alongside with survey results. But if you really want it now, you can email me, add me on Steam or PM here.
