cage-hhkb2 i will never get another keyboard

Can't agree enough. So good, but I don't have the money to buy one.

The HHKB is the most popular Topre board by far, though Leopold FC660c is Topre as well and gives you an alternate layout (quality is nearly as good). The shortest way to descripe Topre is as the best rubber domes available. It has a slight amount of tactility, but a very smooth bump when you press it.

The POK3R is the de facto standard for true 60% keyboards. If you buy a 60% case, or keycaps for a 60% layout, it will probably be specified as "pok3r compatible" or "pok3r layout" (which matters for cases too, not only size but pin layout).

The magicforce68 is recommended as a budget board--it's very good for its price (as long as you get it with gaterons and not with outemu switches), but that's mostly because its price is very low. It won't compare in quality to the others, but is your best option if you only want to spend $70.

The Matias 60% is one of the few non-custom options for ALPS-clone switches, which some people prefer. You could get replacement vintage ALPS switches and solder them in if you wanted, since the pin layout for MX-compatible and ALPS-compatible switches are different.

I didn't include kits/customs/kustoms for 65% and 60%, but for 40% they are pretty much all there is. Making a keyboard is fun though, and gaming on a 40% isn't as crazy as it seems (I do on my minivan without problems, I like it because I get even more mouse room than a 60%) though it may take some rebinding.

Split keyboards can be good for gaming too, since you only need to use one half to game and that leaves you with a fair amount of mouse space. On top of just the regular old better ergonomics. I don't have a split keyboard to comment on, but on some games I'll use a standalone numpad (magicforce21) as my keyboard and the free space is amazing.

I don't know how many of these are available in nordic exactly, but that doesn't really matter much since nordic is like any other ISO in terms of key positions. The keycap labels might be wrong if you got ISO-UK or something, but changing it to be nordic in your OS would work fine. And for that matter 60% is where you start getting changes to the layout but huge programmability / layering powers, so the need to ISO breaks down a bit anyway.

Strongly recommend Varmilo. I've had nothing but success ordering from them directly.

Lot's of layout options from them too. I recently ordered a VA88M from them with nordic layout.
