Hey All!

I am currently studying psychology and i managed to do my research about gaming :D
I have posted about this on the Dutch ETF2L forum aswell, but it is not very active so i figured i might aswell post on teamfortress.tv

Currently only dutch speaking people can apply to participate but i might translate my research so keep an eye out for that ;)
The research will be conducted via a survey and participants can win a steam gift card for their troubles.
I will gladly answer any questions you guys might have and if you decided to participate, thank you very much!

Apply if:
You speak Dutch
You are a gamer
You would like to participate
You like to win a steam gift card

The survey: Has been closed because i got enough participants

It's very interesting, doesn't take very long and it makes you think. Would recommend (dutch) people to fill this in ^^

Rather just native. Questions concerning emotion/personality are usually best interpreted in your native tongue.

Ok then, good luck with the research. Comparison between answers given by American/English players and Dutch is something that could be very interesting to see.

That is something i am planning to do, although i do not expect a difference in the answers

oh shit I just did half of the first questionnaire backwards, assuming that bigger numbers = more true... I feel like that's the standard. Oh well.

Yeah the survey is definitely formatted in a way that differs to the usual, the agree and disagree should switch sides. Nearly got caught out doing the whole survey putting disagree when I meant agree and vice versa

I have been a bit lazy but i finally managed to sort out the winners of the Steam Gift Card.
I used a random number gen to determine who won.

Congratz to Maurits and Minj
(i will contact the winners shortly)

As far as results go, i will now share what i have found.

I am trying to research the (alleged) Link between Video Games and Aggression while also including a motivational theory (BIS/BAS).
My hypothesis were that there will be a link between gaming and aggression, but the motivational systems will moderate this link.

There was a clear correlation between the amount of time spend gaming and the score on the Aggression questionnaire.

The Dutch version of my research even found a significant difference between people who played TF2 compared to other gamers (in aggression)
I did not find any influence of the motivational systems however.

The English version did not found a difference for TF2 vs. Non-TF2 players. It did however find a correlation between aggression and amount of time spend gaming.
In the end, the best predictor was the amount of hours spend per day.

To conclude, it seems that there is some kind of relation between gaming and Aggression but as i have only looked at correlation it does not imply gaming makes you more aggressive.
It could mean that aggressive people like playing a lot of games.

If there are things you would like to know, feel free to ask,

Thanks again for participating, i appreciate it.
