I'd compare it a bit to battlefield (the sounds/team spawning/etc) except with power-ups/special abilities, + there's that giant snow map that rebels will never win unless you have a coordinated team. i suck at it though so it's hard to have fun unless you're in something overpowered :(

the shooting and jet packs and powerups are really fun but the ATAT gamemode is insanely unbalanced, we held objectives for almost the entire game and our team clearly out skilled the opponents, however we only took down one ATAT and got the other down to 60%

Pretty fun, too bad it's insanely unbalanced both in terms of unlocks and map design

a very fun and visually stunning game so far. Although im really sad to see that they wont be including any content from the clone wars era. a star wars game should represent the entire saga, not just half.

This game feels nothing like cod to me. The ttk is much higher than any cod game, there's no ammo, everybody has a pocket sniper rifle, and it has vehicle combat.

Very similar to loadout in terms of combat, but the one thing that bothers me is how the snow map everything that is a vehicle or turret can instagib you no matter how far the distance is... literally no damage falloff in that game at all.

If this is the way they're gonna make their game and always have extremely large maps like that HOTH map, then they better not make the jetback count as a slot card, because it is 100% necessary to have it on at all times. I am still looking forward into buying this but i want to wait and see what the maps are going to be like and if there will be a conquest game mode like the classic battlefronts and battlefields.

It's fun as hell and the game is very very well optimized. Even in massive gunfights my frames still feel perfectly smooth, even though the game is visually amazing. It's also really easy to completely pound in this game because the average player is unbelievably bad. I had someone go 0-37 and he was actually playing and trying the entire time

it's fun and running on 60fps on my dad's machine and the game looks so awesome
but the game itself is sooooo simple and maybe stupid? like i would stand no recoil but wait 3 secs in cover and u'r 100% healthy? or the grenades, they are so overpowered. the gameplay itself is easy and there's nothing you need to think about or something challenging, but it's fun
as a big sw fan i'm looking for singleplayer in first place, witch i belive, will be awesome, they have so much good stuff to work with sw universe and the game looks just awesome, but multiplayer beta is fun but that's all

Game is so optimized an smooth <3. I run on high/ultra settings and get better framerates than I do in tf2 with a maxframes config.

Multiplayer feels really battlefield 4-ish but that's probably because it runs on the same engine as bf4 and is developed by the same guys.

That being said I also never played multiplayer in Battlefront 2 and I can't remember if it even supported that back then.
Well, regardless I didn't have the option of playing it because shit internet so I suppose it's not that odd that it doesn't bring back any Battlefront 1/2 nostalgia (at least not in the beta).

Just like #13 I'm also mostly interested in this for the singleplayer.

Echoing what everyone else is saying pretty much. Looks gorgeous and runs silky smooth in ultra @1440p. A rare treat these days. The sounds are also great. Gameplay is fairly lacklustre, though. Not a fan of the super fast regenerating health and map imbalance but hopefully those things are fleshed out more with the final release. Overall pleasantly surprised can't wait to see how ea ruins it.

Game feels really dry without classes. I want my repair tool! The fast spawn action really makes it feel like a Star Wars battle. Fronts on every lane of the map make for some freshness every few minutes at least. I think they have a good skeleton for a neat game once they figure out the progression it'll show.

I think the game needs to be purposefully unbalanced to make the Rebels feel like they have to strengthen up to complete the objectives and force the Imperials back. It makes for some good immersion, feeling like the Rebels are a pitiful threat but the Imperials really have no idea what's in store when they band together. I think once people feel more comfortable being able to move around the map without being picked off it'll become more clear where the real power is.

I feel the stationary weapons and shitty spawns are a contributing factor, I'd like to see a spawn set up like the normal BF series as that creates some direction and a chance for players to spawn without getting fucked in the ass.

The stationary weapons I feel is too much fire power to the imperials, but again, it's still beta so I'm sure that with the correct tweaks it will be good.

Even so, I fucking love this game, it may be lacking in content but still, it makes my little dip stick happy.

It's got stunning grafics and sound design but it's pretty DICE-tier graphically in areas (mainly lens flare abuse). That's where my praise ends.

It's got some of the most shallow gameplay ever despite it being pretty bug-free and release is only a month away, meaning the game is pretty much done so anyone who stutters out "i-i-it's a b-beta! t-they'll patch it!" shouldn't be listened to; don't expect the November release to be terribly different from what everyone is currently playing. Battlefield gameplay is fine for Battlefield games; this definitely required a lot more game design thought than DICE actually put into it.

Cards don't add any depth to the game since everyone rolls with a jetpack, laser MG42, and sniper rifle/thermal detonator as soon as they can grab it. Jetpack, one you get it, is pretty much mandatory for your loadout as you just go farther faster when you use it and can get to stupid flank positions. The laser MG42 is objectively the best blaster in the game. This means that there's a decently large albeit not impassable unlock wall between new players with FPS experience and people who have just been playing for longer.

Substituting rolling for jetpacks causes a big problem since early-game Hoth ends up being a bunch of Rebels jetpacking up to Wookie Mountain (heh Wookie actually has multiple meanings in this case) and just spawn camping. It can be broken, but the worst part so far is that if you have a mumble squad of four or five people, you can put shit on lock and let the rest of your team fill in the gaps. The game will advance a bit and Wookie Mountain doesn't last forever, but it's a shitty experience for the Empire. Having a mumble squad will break Wookie Mountain faster but this just means that since pubs are matchmaking-based, gameplay outside of playing with a squad of competent friends is gonna blow dick.

Removing classes really ruins almost all of the dynamics within Star Wars games. There's no reliable repair system for both offense and defense outside of waiting for turrets to respawn for Rebels. There's no reliable AT system for both offense and defense outside of the Ion Rifle card which doesn't do a whole lot of damage to vehicles one-on-one. There's no reliable inter-soldier synergy outside of hoping someone RNGs a pickup into a squad shield; SWBF1 engineers relied on other comrades for support and everyone relied on engineers for health/ammo and repairs. Classes also help to give people focus and purpose during the game; sure you can have a bunch of people running homogeneous loadouts but if you don't have people without missile classes in a game with vehicles, how do you expect people to fire at AT-ATs with blaster rifles, let alone figure out focusing fire and figuring out the Ion Blaster card's purpose? I'm not talking about any of this from the competitive side of the earlier SWBF, just from the much more common pub side.

Default FoV of 55 lmao. At least DICE gave us the ability to raise it to something reasonable.

Luke is objectively better than Vader.

Single player sucks. The AI wave defense isn't fun by any means. I don't know why for a game with so little actual content, DICE couldn't include Clone Wars. There were so many more pitched battles in the Clone Wars to pick and choose from while there aren't a whole lot during the Original Trilogy. So far, this game is definitely not worth $60-70. Justifying a $60 purchase by saying "they'll release more DLC that you can pay more for to get the whole experience!" doesn't make it an investment. This game will be mind-blowing and "perfect" for three types of people:

  1. People who have never played a Star Wars game before
  2. ReddiTumblr users who want to jump on the newest nerd craze to garner more "lol i'm such a nerd" credit
  3. People who genuinely enjoy every single last aspect of Star Wars (you better have your Extended Universe memorized and your movie posters framed my man)

Why couldn't we just get this instead?

ive played this game for 26 hrs so far
all i have to say is that this game feels unique enough compared to battlefield and cod because the way u try to kill people is so different, so i like it. i enjoy just tryna hit ppl with the sniper and then finish them with the lmg because every other gun is shit. also if u wanna win on rebels just try to get an oribital strike and save it for the at-at because it does like 50-60dmg.

but overall its not really that similar to old battlefronts its just a game where u try to pub stomp all the clueless people and see how high u can get ur k/d
