You will get better, don't get your hopes down. Just keep practicing and make sure to listen to peoples advice, it can really help. New comp players are good for the community

Don't be so nervous
People in tf2c's are the kind of people who tend to blame others for them being dumdums
Comp tf2 is a unique thing, and after i55 (a LAN where some of the best tf2 ever was played) more and more new players are moving towards comp

Go check out Comp.tf if you haven't already. It's a great place to start for competitive.
Don't give up

just keep playing.
sooner or later you'll hit a point at which you think "these whiners are idiots", and from that moment forth you will just ignore their silly shit.
play for your own improvement, play for the game, not for those whiners.

Easiest way to counter these in a koth map is to know your map and the gamemode that you're playing, where the spy will decloak, where the engineer will place mini-sentries and where the sniper can take a look at you and your team and so on. Highlander is relatively easy to understand and improve your gamesense from after playing it more as you get yourself more into the metagame of the gamemode itself.

Mboybit also did not help that my arms and hands were shaking because i was so fuckin scared

Remember to chill out! Lobbies aren't supposed to be scary at all and neither they are in the end, just remember to have fun playing and then keep on playing more if you do find it fun. The more you play, the more you get used to the game and stop being nervous about it.

Hey don't feel too bad... I've played with players that go 2-24 or even 0-24. We had a demo the other day that did 19 DPM on process 0 kills and like 12 deaths. I'd honestly say 9-23 isn't that bad for your first lobby.

On Asheville, make sure you don't push up too far ahead of the rest of your team. It's hard for teams to forward hold their combo on Asheville, so if you're close to their spawn in bats or in lobby, you'll probably find a whole spawn wave and die. You can hold bats, just make sure you're close enough to the edge to get out.

I've seen a Demo do 50 dpm in Highlander before.

Don't feel to bad about going 9-23 as a Scout.

Yeah you're going to get yelled at by people that are assholes but don't let it get to you, they were yelled at for not being great when they first started playing too.

Just keep at it, and if you do you'll get better a lot more quickly.

ashville

highlander

That's all you needed to know.
Map is straight up terrible unless you're great.

I totally get where you're coming from. I still remember my first experience of comp many years ago playing medic with my entire team blaming me for everything - that wasn't fun.

But please don't give up. Instead if you really wanna improve I'd recommend you do the following:

- Keep playing TF2Center, listen to those who are giving you constructive criticism and ignore the people who are being rude (local mute them on mumble by right clicking their name if you have to). The first few times I played TF2C I was nervous but after a few lobbies you realise that TF2C is just practice. Therefore whatever you mess up on, it doesn't matter as long as you learn from your mistakes.

- As others have said, newbie mixes is great and you should go to them: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/na6v6newbiemix

- Install P-REC (guide: http://etf2l.org/p-rec/) and perhaps find someone who is willing to mentor you by watching your demos with you and telling you what you're doing wrong but also what you're doing right (these are equally important to know). I don't know much about the NA scene but I would imagine someone on TFTV would be willing to mentor you if you post a thread.

- Read guides to competitive 6v6 and scout + watch PoVs of invite scouts to see what they're doing. Scout is mostly aim but you also need to know when to attack, when to get out, when to get behind etc. Again I'm not sure where NAs can get PoVs being European but I'm sure someone would be able to help you.

- MGE and DM servers are great for improving your aim. There are literally 100s of MGE servers but it doesn't matter too much which one you use as long as the server is ok and your ping isn't too high. Make sure you play against other scouts and soldiers as these are the classes you'll be dueling in matches most of the time.

- Once you are more confident, find a UGC team. Ultimately lobbies and mixes and scrims and whatever are good but to truely learn the game and get better, there is no substitute for playing in a team and having proper organisation and communication.

Hopefully that helps you out if you have any questions then please don't hesitate to ask, most people on here don't bite (much).

don't take shit talk the wrong way, lobbies arent too serious (but dont be a dick and run a spy all day on 6s lobbies) But if you are learning comp its cool, people can be dicks if you are not that good.

i took a look at the logs of the center you were talking about. 6/9 players are on the same team in gold this/next season and the pyro's team is trying to go for plat.

i wouldn't worry about it too much. just play another lobby and hope it's not as stacked.
