Pardon the necro...

The FLAT mod does seem to be working still...but with a major bug popping up consistently.

Part of the time it works perfectly, but sometimes on loading a map a pattern of crosshatched lined appears upon all the textures.

Does anyone else experience this? Any ideas for a fix?

It's because of the size of the images. They're 4x4 instead of the original size, and that transfers down onto world textures so on sv_pure 2 it makes the original texture over a hundred times smaller. I personally don't mind it (I see it as more of a feature than a bug actually), and obviously this really cuts down on filesize too, so I'm keeping it.

You could use a different flat textures mod that'll just go back to the default textures on sv_pure because it doesn't change texture sizes any.

As for the spy cloaking, you could disable it for the dead ringer by just overriding it with the dead ringer's unmodded textures. I'm not a spy so I never even thought of the issue :P

The only real fix afaik would be gpu tweaks (bonafide did a bunch of work and got some examples earlier, but then again you could just lod bias it. Also been roughly looking into shader mods which from what I've been told would need to be from external dll's and that's dabbling into VAC territory so I haven't really tried it). Since vmt's were patched to completely reload before joining a server, using that's gone, and that's really all I had beforehand. In the mean time, I don't think it'd be possible.

Would really like my game to look the same all the time, sv_pure 1 or 0, but thanks that's a useful option.

I was hoping simply resizing the texture from 4x4 to "normal" size would do it, if I understood what you were saying (not likely!). I do use the LOD bias tweak with nvidia inspector already at +15--what exactly are you referring to in that regard?

As for shader mods, I've already started using SweetFX after researching it enough to feel comfortably safe from VAC. No idea how to make custom presets, but maybe someone who does will step up someday.

Well thanks so much for the replies and the upload :) Hopefully this mod returns one of these days. Will definitely include it in the "Everything Pack" if it ever functions normally again.

Did you install all the vpks too? Also I'm pretty sure flat textures don't work any more on either sv_pure 1 and sv_pure 2.

They still work for me. I think some of them don't work anymore, but the flat textures still work.

So, just to be completely clear, there's absolutely NO way for the Spy's viewmodels to still become invisible when you cloak? That's the only thing I find as a negative with this mod pack, and it has boosted my FPS immensely. I'd really like to be able to see if I get bumped or blinked, ya know?

I think if you remove the unlit playermodels, when you are on a sv_pure 0 server, you will be able to see when someone bumps into you.

just so its clear, there are more then 1 version of sv pure. sv pure 0 is normal in which the files will work regardless, and the files will work in sv pure 1 aswell because its less strict. sv pure 2 is the tough one to get around. not a whole lot of servers actually use sv pure 2 which is why it still works on several of the servers you play on when you are scrimming. originally you could preload the materials which would cause them to work in sv pure 2, but because valve recently broke preloading, they cannot show up in sv pure 2.

Get rid of unlit_playermodels

The way it works is by using a pretty barebones shader that doesn't include lighting. It also doesn't include many of the things that things like hats use, mostly paintable stuff. So you're pretty much stuck with it like that or completely default.

I thought school would be getting better after a while ago, but it's just gotten worse. I'll be good in like two weeks though with school being done and work being only a couple hours a week. Though I do also have some ideas for new huds that I've been wanting to experiment with.

I've got ideas for an update, and do plan to keep it up to date with patches, but I can't really work on that currently. It's pretty late coming but expect something :/

I'd actually prefer having the warpy textures even in sv_pure 0, just for consistency and depth information.
