hookyWhat language(s) is this coded in?

I don't know the full extent of the languages used in the site but If you're asking out of interest in helping, according to this post by Kuferl, one of our main devs

We’re mainly looking for people who have knowledge (and experience?^^) with PHP and general HTML/CSS/JS, as this would be your main part.

People with node.js/socket.io experience would be welcomed too

KanecoWe passed the 1000 pickup mark this month, this was our most successful and active month ever. That's over 30 pickups a day and the month is not even finished yet. This is a clear example that this community is very much alive for people who doubt it, also afaik this is the most active month in the history of any kind of tf2 pickups.

Thank me any time :)

LaMqTaA quick quote of mine from congrats to cinq and #tf2mixLaMqTaHello everybody! I am really sorry to hear that the irc pugs are not going as they should. But i have another idea in mind that someone of you might be interested in. TF2Pickup.net is website for 6s,hl,ultiduo and bball pickups and its working..fine so far. We have some problems with balancing but doing our best to fix them when our coders have the time. We've been thinking about expanding the website to the NA scene aswell because many USA players have been interested in playing our website, but unfortunatelly its only for EU at the moment. Also our coders do not have the time to make it, so few months ago we decided to start looking for new coders/devs who would like to join our team and start developing the pickup so we can expand it, but i have posted that only in ETF2L(where the main audience is from europe(logic, right...)). But Kaneco told me about the problem here and we are also interested if somebody from the NA community is interested in helping us and making it work for na players. SimRai are offering servers with location chicago and new york so the gameservers should not be a problem.

Here is the original post from Kuferl about it: http://etf2l.org/forum/community/topic-23781/page-73/#post-506700

Please anyone who is interested in helping us, contact me, kuferl or wiethoofd on steam! :) Thanks in advance.
And its also really mean to say "its valve project" when Kuferl/Wiethoofd are doing this for free and in their free time. The offer for NA Devs/Coders is still available, if anyone wants to give it a shot add me/kuferl or wieth. :)

Didn't mean that comment in a bad way; I was just commenting on how long it was taking and relating it to Valve's release schedule. But I realize now that it's offensive to the developers so I will remove it.

Long enough to feel comfortable with the mechanics of the game. That time will be different for different people.

Also, as stated in the rules tf2pickup is not the place to learn competitive tf2, you are expected a certain level of skill by adding up to a pickup.

Is there anything I can do about the ping I get on certain pickup servers? I've gotten used to the average of 80 (as opposed to the 40-60 I get on other servers located in central Europe) but I just joined a pickup where I had 300 ping. This has happened multiple times in the past now, I've even gotten banned for it despite explaining my situation to the people in mumble and excusing myself.

Hello everybody! I would like to talk about few things that seems to be problem in the last few weeks/months.

As you already know our devs are not having enough time to develop and maintain our website, so once again i am here to promote that we are looking for new fresh coders who are interested to work with us. We’re mainly looking for people who have knowledge (and experience?) with PHP and general HTML/CSS/JS, as this would be your main part. People with node.js/socket.io experience would be welcomed too. We have tons of ideas and all we need is someone who is interested in creating them. I would be really thankful if you (our lovely users) spread the word so we can get new devs as soon as possible. Kuferl is already having a plan for new design of the website and so on…Therefore, the faster we get new coders, the faster we get fresh and updated website.

If you got any questions or want to apply add me!

Secondly, I’ve heard that many people complain about the servers so please do the following steps from this announcement – http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TF2PickupNET#announcements/detail/225517692773989721 and add the link in the comments or add me so you can send it to me. Myself and SimRai are trying to figure out whats the problem with the servers so we need information about your connection.

Also if you are having any other questions/problems please write here or add anyone from the admin team! Thank you for the time!

Hello everybody! Firstly, i would like to appologise for not updating the thread on TFTV. Secondly, i am here to re-post something important for us, from our Steam Group and we would like to hear what you think about it. Thanks in advance! <3

Support
TF2Pickup.net is supporting the i55 Fundraisers, DeutschLAN, Highlander Nations Cup & Tip of the Hats.

DeutschLAN
Yes, you read the first line correctly, behind the scenes the admins and mods for TF2Pickup.net have been able to put up a nice sum of keys and some funds to increase the DeutschLAN prizepool. Mostly thanks to your donations to TF2Pickup.net supporting us, while also unlocking some cool announcers and donator perks!

As a temporary donator perk for TF2Pickup.net we can offer a chance to get your hands on a DeutschLAN Supporter Medal if Valve decides to add these to the game*. (preview) If you donate a minimum of €30** to TF2Pickup.net between now and the 10th of September we will pass your SteamID on to the DeutschLAN admins responsible for distributing the medals.

Don't forget to tune in for coverage on BlackOut TV between the 11th & 13th of September.

i55 Fundraisers
With the fundraisers for froyotech and Ascent completed, with TF2Pickup.net providing 4 of the unusuals to be raffled, the Production Staff still needs some attention, help teamfortress.tv a full production team for Insomnia 55 between 28th - 30th of August.

Tip of the Hats
A new edition of Tip of the Hats will be showcasing a lot of different facets of Team Fortress 2 on the 19th and 20th of September, while raising money for One Step Camp. Like previous years we will also support them. How you can help raise money by playing pickups will be announced in the near future.

LAN Teams
Besides supporting i55, DeutschLAN & Tip of the Hats we are also sponsoring team Danger Dogs, who will defend the European honour on i55 & Fair Enough to step up the Highlander game on DeutschLAN.

ETF2L Highlander Nations Cup
Our master of items Wiethoofd is providing a bunch of killstreak kits (9 basic/specialized/professional) for the ETF2L Highlander Nations Cup besides any remaining funds left after sponsoring all the aforementioned tournaments, events and teams!

TF2Pickup.net Future
It has been quiet from the TF2Pickup devs, because we are and have been working on a new version of TF2Pickup.net

Because we can't spoil too much yet, here is a short list of what you can expect:
    TF2Pickup.net going GLOBAL(NA/AU support)
Map vote when added up for pickup
    New & more Announcers
    New & beautiful design
    New donator perks
    More DM Servers
    More coming soon..

* We can't guarantee the medal, but your donation will help fund various prize pools!
** You can donate items (keys, unusuals, skins, paints) instead of money

They offer a different way of playing a pug with a captain based pick system, you add up as a class and we balance the teams for you based on rankings/ratings/logs/player stats or whatever voodoo magic we need to not result in 5-0 10 minute rolls.

5-0 10 minutes rolls rarely happen in pugme from my experience. The only time it happens is when new players attempt to captain against an experienced player, but as long as both captains are decent, pugs are usually at least somewhat close

I doubt whether that many people care about if the pugs are captained or not, people just wanna pug and now that pugme is a thing I don't think an NA tf2pickup is necessary.

I don't disagree with the desire to not spread folks out but I'd also kinda like a viable alternative to a center where I'm not sure what quality of game I'm going to get or a pugme where I know the game will likely be good but I'll never get picked.

I personally, dislike captained pugs. It makes it much harder for new players to play pugs. Especially if they have no interest in playing medic.

Can we just completely remove metalworks from the rotation? Its not even in the ETF2L map pool any more and frankly more people hate it than like it. Its been sitting on metalworks for at least 2 hours now or something. Or maybe have some sort of vote system to skip the map?
