Hello everybody! I am here to present you our project - TF2Pickup.net. Started in February 2013 by Crafz and Trath. After a change of staff and developers in 2014, the relaunched version of TF2Pickup.net now supports all popular competitive gamemodes. SimRai.com is providing all the European servers. TFTrue is keeping the whitelists up to date thanks to whitelist.tf and also uploads the logs used by TF2Pickup.net for ELO/player rankings to Logs.tf.

But what exactly we offer?

  • Easy login with your Steam account
  • ETF2L account is required to register for consistent usernames
  • Mumble is required when playing a pickup
  • ELO playering ranking is used to balance pickups

  • See which map is played in the next pickup
  • Pre-ready, so you can ready up and grab a drink
  • Medic-Friendpick when adding up as medic
  • Browser desktop notifications when you have to ready-up

  • Auto-connect status on match pages (Mumble and game servers)
  • Logs and SourceTV demos can be found on match pages when pickup is done

  • Servers located in Netherlands, & France provided by SimRai
  • Always up to date whitelists provided by whitelist.tf & TFTrue

  • Easy sub requesting on the match page with 1 single click
  • Report users directly from your match page to get an admins attention
  • Active admins and moderators who will try to take care of any problems

  • Add your Twitch.tv channel to your Profile
  • Easy switching between custom announcers

  • Donator features that will make your experience in the website even more exciting
    • Custom pickup bot announcers
      • Team Fortress 2 in Pyrovision
      • Casters & TF2 Celebrities
        • Admirable (also in Pyrovision), Jakeowaty, Salamancer, ThePledge
        • Lange - Creator of SizzlingStats/SOAP DM
    • Different/custom colored username
    • Showing you're streaming without playing in a pickup

Before joining the pickups you should check the rules and if you need help you can contact the admins through their Steam Group.

Gratz on the new release TF2Pickup team! It's good for TF2Center to have some competition again and I really like that you're trying to get a higher skill level in your games.

Great site, been part of the team for quite a while since Crafz first started developing it, despite all the shortcomings and bugs at the start I could see he had started something big. There were days we reached 70 pickups a day if I remember well.

Shame it had to die down but it was a necessary step to completely redo the site with a more responsive and bug free interface.

Hope to see it working full force again, and by that I mean with constant pickups, because the admins will always be there to help.

I don't think we're competitition to tf2center, don't take this as an official admin view on it, but speaking personally I think we're aiming at a different and higher skilled playerbase while tf2center is aiming at the same playerbase as tf2lobby.

First things first: I think the site looks nice and it looks like a great service.

Having said that, I don't understand why we need two different sites to divide skill levels; we're fracturing our community by doing so, and we're really too small to have 5 different websites for pickup games. Not sure which site is the best solution, but they all seem to do the same exact thing at the moment.

Its not fracturing the community, the site targets a different playerbase than tf2center at least in my view. A higher skilled one. Since you need a minimum of hours (350) to join any pickup and mumble is required for every pickup.

Also tf2pickup was here long before tf2center beta was even launched, and tf2pickup was and is the first site to offer web ultiduo and bball pickups, and as of now has every major format available (HL, 6s, bball, ultiduo)

There is NO tf2 pickup website in NA that I'm aware of. lobby/tf2center aren't pickups, they're lobbys where anyone can join as long as the slot is open.

I'd like to see pug.na/tf2mix type of pickups (ex: captains) but with a nice GUI where it won't discourage players from joining because of the fact that they have to use IRC.

Been using that since I'm in Europe. Unfortunately it was always kind of empty because the skill level was really higher than tf2center. I hope it gets more attention now with a release!

As we finish the European version, we can think about na.TF2Pickup.net. SimRai.com confirmed like a two months ago that they would sponsor us with servers if the website is active and growing. But any ideas are welcome...

Yea, thats the thing we are missing atm. Hope to see more people coming...

We've been thinking about feature like this because one of our coders - Wiethoofd is kind of maniac on MvM..so :D

Also guys, the servers were updated and everything is ready for playing! See ya on! :)

Would love to give this a go. When are the peak times that pickups are played? The website has been deserted every time I have checked.

And as for 'higher skill', that term seems quite nebulous. I am div 5, would I be out of my depth?

Cheers

Usually the games are happening around 18-19cet i think. But there is always players for ultiduo or bball so. About the skill, there is no requirement(like divs or smth) for skill. All you need is to have ETF2L profile and 350hours of TF2. :)

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, generally my experience with lobby is that the majority of players are div6 or have no official league experience. And if they have experience higher than div6, they don't really play serious.

While tf2pickup is a slightly more serious and competitive atmosphere and you get a lot of players even from div1-prem playing among div4-5-6 players, as long as everyone is aware of how the game works, the skill level itself shouldn't matter much. Which is why I said we cater to a slightly different audience. And if you want to get better I would always recommend tf2pickup over tf2center.

sorry mate but that won't happen until we finished the EU version. Because the Na version will need quite some changes again, as an etf2l account is required to play. We will see how we change that. Also we're using etf2l divisions to make somewhat balanced teams.
And we have enough things we want to finish first.

The website is stable and online again. (it was like 2 days ago online but..little bit unstable)
Fixed the VAC/itemserver problem on the gameservers.
Added colors for the donators. More info about the donators features coming soon...
