in v3 you can see it isn't a circle, although it's more obvious ingame

Perhaps something changed between v2 and v3 which screwed with scaling.

Try this font and see if the issue is fixed: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l40u0m4403zyi2p/crosshairs_4.ttf

Alright, don't use v3 then. I still don't have any idea what's causing the issue.

EDIT: did you rename the font? also what OS are you on?

I'm on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit, and no I didn't rename the font, so I guess you mean you aren't getting these types of problems? This is not the only crosshair which has the same type of problem btw

What I meant was did you initialize the new font properly in your HUD (make the proper changes in client scheme or renaming the font to match the original file name)

i use OmpHud, so i renamed the old crosshairs.ttf to crosshairsv2.ttf (which is just for backup) and the new one is just named crosshairs.tff.

Did you have version 2 installed on your system? If so uninstall it then try.

find the font in clientscheme.res under custom fonts and change the tall. not the "tall" value in hudlayout.

For some reason, the Crosshair is fine, but It just took out the Health and Ammo, Part of the killfeed and the timer at the top. I use a modified broeselhud and I don't really know what happened.

You probably messed up editing your hudlayout.res

Is there a way to fix it? I'm not really that good in editing crosshairs.

Hi there, i am having some trouble installing these crosshairs, have put everything in its place, although i have found that whenever i change the "labelText" to one number or letter, that same number is applied as my crosshair e.g "if i set "labelText" to "6" my crosshair will be the number 6 and not the crosshair assigned to number 6".

I am using a custom hud (eve's hud).

I suspect that the problem is that the font (xHairSpread) in clientscheme.res is not being called in hudlayout.res, which means that the game has no knowledge about crosshairs.ttf's existance and therefore causing this problem. I have checked everything to make sure it was correct, but i might be missing something crucial.
If you know what the problem is, it would much appreciated.

The layout you have is fine, however:

1) There are two instances of crosshairs.ttf (one for broeselhud Crosshairs and the other of my crosshairs)

You'll need to rename the font or move it somewhere else and account for it in clientscheme.res

2) xHairSpread in clientscheme has a lower case crosshairs instead of upper case Crosshairs

After those two fixes, I think you should be ok.

Thank you fog, although i figured the problem by myself, it was actually a problem with assigning my custom font in clientscheme to the crosshairs.tff, i had previously deleted the broesel hud ttf, so there was no problem there, although there was a problem with the names like you said, so i assigned my custom font in clientscheme a different name, but something still wasn't right, it was then after some research that i found out that i had to quit tf2(instead of hud_reloadscheme) to apply the changes to my hud if i wanted to change anything in clientscheme...

Again, thank you very much and i am in the mid point of finishing the best crosshair thanks to you.

if you would like to have it after i finish it, i can post the code its all up to you.

Hi,

I'm also having problems installing the crosshairs. I've compared what I have typed to what I've found in this thread and didn't notice any errors.

Here's what I have, any insight?

clientscheme.res

{
"font" "resource/crosshairs.ttf"
"name" "Crosshairs"
}

"xHairSpread"
{
"1"
{
"name" "Crosshairs"
"tall" "28"
"weight" "0"
"antialias" "1"
}

hudlayout.res
xHairSpread

"controlName" "CExLabel"
"fieldName" "xHairSpread"
"visible" "1"
"enabled" "1"
"zpos" "2"

"xpos" "c-100"
"ypos" "c-100"
"wide" "202"
"tall" "198"

"font" "xHairSpread"
"labelText" "y"
"textAlignment" "center"

"fgcolor" "255 255 255 192"
}
