I don't do Reddit... I browse but won't sign up sorry. But I will share here.

Was on Steam with about 600 hours on TF2 literally just broke 600 hour mark was happy. Favorite class was Medic and Spy (Even went on and try and made some Spy tutorials) My friend sent me this link "http://video.alienwarearena.com/movie/812/Homocide_A_Medic_Movie/"; I watched it; had some really slow crap connection so it took about a hour to even watch the first 3 minutes of it... Sad I know. I was mesmerized. The part about 8 minute mark with Grillz, I really liked that skill of swapping guns to cap point. I never thought of it before ever. I actually never even knew competitive gaming existed. I gave it a shot, I did a quick Google search just to see what is out their. I found many guides on how to achieve 6v6 TF2, I read them all a few times. Found TF2 and got my little serial number and started trying Medic and Soldier, I hardly knew any roll outs. I didn't even have a mic, I felt bad.... Every team I was on we would lose bad.

This was about 3-4 years ago. Sadly after 2 years PC broke and couldn't fix it until just recently.

Nonis started a sniper group (reap4lyfe) and we played in some awful 5v5 KOTH reddit tourney. Then I started watching frag movies like reptile and dr. justice. Ended up forming a 6s team using people from the RAGE/Y2FC arena community that never took off, but I stayed interested in the comp scene.

I don't even remember, mained med/solly/demo, did a lobby with friends as medic, started using mumble a lot, friends got me into comp stuff, fragvids, etc. Now I'm shitty sniper for a Highlander team and ring for friends in scrims and keep up with invite.

My brother told me about the eXtv youtube channel, I suscribed and started watching most of the eXtravision videos as they were released each week. At that point I had no clue about who were the teams or leagues that extine used to talk about and I barely understood what 6v6 was, what I was most interested in was in the community segment of the show.
Then I realized that every episode extine said to tune in to their stream to watch the matches, and so I realized that I had to suscribe to their twitch.tv channel to really stay updated with the competitive scene. So I went to twitch.tv and found out that there was a lot of people streaming tf2, so I started watching not only eXtv but most of the invite players streams. Eventually I got curious and started asking things on the stream chats and getting advices from some of the streamers (Lange & Seanbud <3), AND ONLY THEN I finally understood how this thing worked, where to find the community, where to follow the matches, etc.

Now with teamfortress.tv everything is much easier. I feel like eXtv should direct the new players to this site to help making the community bigger.

Condensed version.

- Randomly hopped into a few "Highlander" public servers (strange, right?) and messed around there.
- Learned about Highlander watching eXtv and others, played a good amount, backed up for UGC Platinum.
- Watched more 6's.
- Played in Newbie Mixes in like February / March
- Instantly sold for 6's.

User sent me a Steam message saying, "Dude, you need to watch this!" with a link to the ESEA Orange stream. After that, I participated in Newbie Mixes and I played in a HL team in ETF2L. Over the summer I played in Steel 6s for TLK. Currently I am a backup for TLK's HL team and Victorious Secret in 6s Steel.

ETF2L community Highlander.

Got pretty far, especially as a NA team. (out of 10 other NA teams in that round)

Fun looking back at the matches. We lost to this team. I was a big fan of yz50 and today I'm on a highlander roaster with him :O.

i was pubbing in the furry server cc2iscool (i didn't know what furry was, i was like 13 or 14) and a cool dude from the 8v8 clan SoBe came in and wanted me to main sniper on their team. after that I played mostly with blackbanjo and his teams.

TF2 was my 1st computer FPS, I didn't even know you could play games competitively lol. I started out playing 24/7 2fort and racked up like 1200 hours (I mained sniper, then demoknight rofl). After a couple years of that nonsense, Yz50'd had just come out and friend showed it to me. Inspired, I started playing scout and mgeing a bit. One day I was playing Capt. Yesz on gran mid and beat him, so he invited me to try out for the team he was on with MaxHax and a few other guys. We never played any leagues together and the team eventually died. After that I joined Form Like Voltron with surF, Zigzter, DrG, DrBadfish, and Whatisausername aka Kritzmaster420 and played Open in season 10. Took a break for S11. Currently, I play scout for Playground Tactics in Open.

saw phelon play on devastation way back on pwnage.tv, he dominated everyone and hit some of the craziest shots and it pretty much inspired me to start a 6v6 team with a pub community. was a very cool experience for me to get to play on the same team as him eventually as well :)

I first got into competitive tf2 because of Leogeo. Does any body remember him from pwnage.tv? What happened to him? I wish he could cast with eXtine.

ETF2L Highlander Frag video got me into comp highlander (I used to main spy). Then a friend invited me to a pug group where they were playing highlander. Turns out they normally do 6s, so next time I was there I tried 6s out for the first time. Once I learned a little bit of rocket jumping, I was sold.

A couple of years ago my best friend and I played orange all the time. He got me into a clan he got into via sniping on orange_x_whatever called GoW (gods of war, later to be renamed MoO Masters of Obliteration LOL). The clan just started getting 6 and scrimming when we had 6 online and I met some cool people like "Nicest guy in the world" longneckturtle and "cool kid" zulu/phife. Once that team died I just kept meeting cool people who made tf2 a really fun game to play.
